This episode offers some insight into exactly what goes on in my socially anxious vegan mind when I'm surrounded by the enemy (lol I'm kidding). But it can be awkward and uncomfortable figuring out how to navigate non-vegan spaces every now and then. It's difficult deciding how much to say, what to hold back on and how to politely turn down a box of chicken wings...
I decided to take it upon myself to share unnecessary details about my personal life and how veganism is a constant third wheel in my relationships. This podcast was supposed to be with @afro_beets but the audio sounded like it was recorded with a rock but y'all should follow him on Instagram since he's funnier than me lol
I've gotten into the weird habit of trying to keep an eye out whenever I order drinks from Starbucks...but after this, I got it's not the worst idea. I also open up about how my style of activism is changing after this particular incident made me question whether or not my actions are really effective in creating the change I want to see.
This week I had the chance to sit down with Sola and together we got some things off our chest. We talked about the trouble working at non-vegan restaurants, feeling like a burden to non-vegan friends and how to convince your family that veganism won't lead to your untimely death haha
So today I talk about my journey from thinking I was vegan... to actually being vegan and how I dealt with the shame of my first mistake. Spoiler: I was a wreck.
In this episode on top of a ridiculous story about "vegan" food spiked with deli meat... we have LISTENER LETTERS! Send in your questions and stories to [email protected] to have your rambles read aloud next week!
Something I learned the hard way is that when eating out at non-vegan restaurants you have to make sure to ask the right questions... but we'll leave it at that. I also talk about the queen of the world (Beyoncé) and her mission to create a plant-based kingdom.
Close your eyes and imagine being given plain rice mixed with tomato sauce and unseasoned boiled vegetables as the vegan option at a 5 star hotel... before you start to cringe, grab a seat and press play because if you can believe it... it gets so much worse.
Sometimes it's hard to believe what restaurants will try to pass off as "meals" for people with dietary restrictions... Being starved at restaurants is a running theme for the podcast lol.
In this episode I talk about the time my friend tried to slowly starve me to death with no remorse and then recruit your help to assist me in finding a leash for my new pet chicken.
