Your super has one job — to grow your money for retirement. So how do you actually know if it's doing it?
In this episode, Naomi and Helene check this year's super fund performance against the market performance. We explore the factors that impacted investments over the 2025/26 year, from interest rates going one way then the other, to the AI boom, to a genuine escalation in the Middle East, and what all of it actually meant for Australian shares, property, bonds and cash.
We break down the five risk categories super funds use and walks through performance across the 1, 5 and 10 year view. We explain exactly what to look for so you can read your statement with fresh eyes.
This episode connects to Episode 21 — The Super Audit. If you haven't done your audit yet, that's a great companion listen.

How do you negotiate salary without feeling pushy, ungrateful, or "too much"? That's exactly what this episode is about. Naomi sits down with salary negotiation coach Angela Langmann to unpack why so many women avoid asking for a raise, and the simple strategy that changes it.
Australia's gender pay gap currently sits at 21.1%, meaning for every dollar a man earns, a woman earns just under 79 cents. The reality is that there are many reasons for this, one of the big challenges being the moment an offer lands on the table, or a review rolls around, one person asks for more while another says thank you and moves on.
Angela is a former corporate hiring manager who spent years watching hundreds of candidates go through exactly that moment, and who now runs her own business helping women over 45 have the salary conversations. Angela's message is simple and genuinely reframes the whole conversation: this isn't a confidence problem. It's a strategy problem. And strategy can be taught.
They cover the data behind why women negotiate less often than men, the real (and often irrational) fears that stop us from asking, why our last salary anchors our next one, and Angela's own collaborative-but-assertive negotiation method which is illustrated with two real client stories, including one that turned into equity and a sign-on bonus instead of just a bigger base salary.
Angela spent years in corporate as a hiring manager, sitting across the table from hundreds of candidates at the exact moment salary negotiations happened. After noticing a consistent pattern — men negotiating more often and opening higher, women far more likely to simply accept what was offered — she left corporate to build her own negotiation coaching business under her own name, working specifically with women over 45 to close that gap for themselves.

If you are unhappy with your super fund or your super fund failed the audit from your review after episode 21, this episode is for you.

How do you actually find a better fund? And how do you know who to trust when the internet is full of comparison sites that earn money from the very funds they recommend?
In this episode, Naomi and Helene pick up exactly where Episode 21 left off. We break down a clear 7-step process for comparing, choosing and switching super funds, including a guide to some independent resources, and one excellent free comparison tool that most people have never heard of.

Did you know that only 13% of women in Australia hold an ETF compared to 27% of men? That means men are more than twice as likely to be investing in one of the most accessible, low-cost, and diversified investment options available on the ASX. The reason that gap exists is not because women are less capable investors, it is that women tend to be more risk adverse and want to know more about their investments before they jump in.
To help anyone who may be considering an ETF, Naomi sits down with Jessica Leung from Global X ETFs to bust the five most common myths about ETFs. Whether you thought ETFs were boring, complicated, risky, expensive, or only for people who already know what they are doing, this episode is going to challenge each of those assumptions.
In this episode we cover:
About Jessica Leung: Jessica is a Portfolio Manager at Global X ETFs, one of Australia's leading providers of thematic and income ETFs. With deep expertise across the ASX-listed ETF market, Jessica is passionate about making investing more accessible and more understandable for everyday Australians. One year. Sixty episodes. And approximately four hundred "ums" in Episode 1 alone. We are putting on our party hats, popping the bubbles, ripping open a bag of party mix lollies, and we are absolutely not sharing the clinkers.
This week, there is no homework, no super statements, no spreadsheets — just Naomi and Helene celebrating one gloriously chaotic year by pulling back the curtain on everything that actually happens behind the mic. The re-recordings, all about the imposter syndrome, and the moment Helene decided live radio was the appropriate setting for her personal sealed section. And the blooper reel that Kieran — our long-suffering, endlessly patient sound guy — has been lovingly curating since the beginning!
In this episode:
This week's pop culture pick: Happy Birthday Mr. President — Marilyn Monroe (1962). Sewn into a dress, barely able to breathe, completely unapologetically herself. Sounds familiar.
