March 16, 2025 - Christians belong to the Lord Jesus Christ but are not with him where he is. Isaiah 26 joins the church in waiting for the future consummation of God’s Kingdom and affirms our doubts and fears as we live in the in-between. Isaiah reminds us of all the tremendous blessings we have been given in Jesus, invites us to participate in the great responsibilities we have been given on earth, and extends us grace for when we fall short of his glory.

March 9, 2025 - Isaiah in the beginning of his “little apocalypse” prophesies about a future time and place where three monumental events will occur in relationship to his church. On that day, and on the mountain of the Lord in Zion, he will prepare a banquet for his church, he will defeat death forever, and he will put an ultimate end to all his, and our, enemies. Joy comes in the final establishment of God’s heavenly kingdom, and with it the passing away of this earthly kingdom.

February 9, 2025 - The imagery of God as a potter is woven throughout Scripture, emphasizing His sovereignty over nations and individuals. Isaiah 10 reveals how God shapes history according to His divine purpose—raising up nations, disciplining His people, and ultimately fulfilling His covenant promises. This chapter serves as both a warning and a comfort, reminding us that God’s justice is perfect, His discipline is redemptive, and His faithfulness is unshakable.

February 2, 2025 - Isaiah 6 is a mountain top passage of Scripture, meant to be experienced as well as studied. The passage moves from seeing (Vv. 1-2) to hearing (Vv. 3-5) to feeling (Vv. 6-8). Isaiah's experience is the experience of every born-again believer from the confrontation with the Lord of hosts through to the calling unto spiritual service.

January 26, 2025 - Isaiah 5 contains a powerful parable about God's people, his vineyard. He came to them looking for justice and righteousness but found only bloodshed and outcries. The people of God despised his favor and grace and so God promises that they will look forward to exile and judgment.
