I needed to test out the new intro, mic, and make sure things were going to upload to Spotify, iTunes, and everywhere else. Instead of doing that myself I thought a teaser episode would be more fun.

I talk a bit about Prepare. Defend. Lead. and what to expect, it will be different than Ever Vigilant. I also touch for a moment on what I have been up to since I shut down EV and why the time away was important.

Then just to be sure that you get your monies worth with this episode we briefly talk confidence and how to build it.

This is the final episode of Ever Vigilant.

I touch on what's going on the world as the chaos of 2020 continues, priorities, and Ever Vigilant.

Thanks to all the listeners and guests through the years, especially the Wolf Pack I appreciate you guys more than you will ever know.

In this episode I break down Fear. Through this pandemic we have seen firsthand the heavy toll that fear exacts and how it spreads. I invested a lot of time and energy into reading, note taking and putting together this episode. I hope that it will open your eyes to the fears that you have in your life and how they are preventing you from being your best, and gives you some keys to fight those fears and understand what courage is and why it is necessary.

Three things that have the power to forge you into the man you can be.

Purpose. The Apostle Paul was a man sold out to a purpose, first for evil and then for good.

Discipline. King David had the discipline not to kill King Saul when he had the chance.

Standards. Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego held themselves to a high standard and excelled.

The power of purpose is that it gives reason to self-discipline and holding oneself high standards. Purpose gives you a reason hold yourself to a high standard because you have something to loose.

Purpose gives you a reason to be disciplined in order to put forth the effort needed to fulfill that purpose.

In the midst of the Covid-19 chaos you have been given the opportunity to take the reins of leadership. Those who have led in the past are now wondering and waiting and NOT leading. You on the other hand are ready and willing to lead your family, church, and community through this mess. It is our responsibility not only to defend our family but also to build a place of refuge in our homes.

A place where we maintain discipline, order, and trust and an atmosphere where-

-Vulnerability is treasured

-Honesty is expected

-Failure is acceptable

-Challenges are encouraged

-Unconditional love is demonstrated

How do we create this atmosphere?

-Explaining plans and contingencies - build a feeling of security and trust

-Delegating responsibilities - gives purpose

-Challenging and encouraging - builds confidence

-Intentional time reading, talking, playing games, wrestling, etc. - show love

-Difficult times (minimize sheltering) - build character and grit

-Allowing them to express concerns and fears - builds trust

Leverage this time of chaos outside of your castle to build confidence in God, you, and in your family unit.

I believe we are in the middle of a paradigm shift, I don't believe that things will be back to normal in a couple of weeks. I believe that normal has been redefined and the new normal is not the old normal. We can choose to accept this as a possibility in order to think clearly and prepare for what is to come. The other option is to leave yourself in denial and potentially put yourself and your family in danger. A shift in mindset will allow you to adapt and to put yourself and your family in a place to succeed vs. exist. If everything does go back to normal at some point we already know how to prepare, defend, and lead, in that paradigm. Are you ready to prepare, defend and lead in a new paradigm?

You have a Responsibility to Prepare, Defend, and Lead.

In this episode I talk about a photo that changed my life and lead me down a path of preparedness and why it is your Responsibility to Prepare. I talk a bit about the Corona Virus and point out that very few people if any have actual hard data on what is happening. The fear that the results of a panic may outweigh the impact of the virus has governments doing a precarious balancing act. The impending economic issues as a result of the empty Chinese factories may indeed be the more formidable issue. In the end the Responsibility falls on you to evaluate the risk in your area, are you near an large city that is a hub of international travel or do you reside in rural North Dakota? There is no one size fits all solution, but it is imperative that you start today to prepare, not scare your family. Let your wife and family, rest (and help) in the confidence that you are creating a plan, and will execute that plan to the best of your abilities.
