Hej! We're back with the second half of my chat with the University of Southern Queensland, USQ College Associate Professor Dr Susan Hopkins.
We continue our look into how the media bashing of Britney Spears and Courtney Love - totally unique ladies - is so similar.
We've got a load of tunes too. Happy listening!!

Genuine storytellers don't seem to get the praise they deserve in the Australian country scene. The saturation of cliches, songs of love and loss of it, and living on the land seem to be most of the reasons any success has been made in the male-dominated scene.
Ladies are definitely outnumbered, but not to be outsung. Clancy Pye has a powerful storyteller with a professional background while being an all round nice person too.
The episode features Kasey Chambers, Amber Lawrence, Sarah Blasko, Clare Bowditch and Christie Lamb in an Australian gal gang edition.

This week we feature my chat with Associate Professor at the University of Southern Queensland, USQ College, Dr Susan Hopkins.
We chat on the media-spun framing of Britney Spears and Courtney Love as celebrity trainwrecks, unpacking the free Britney movement including the Britney doco on Stan currently and Courtney Love’s consistent no bullshit 'tude.

The ladies get loud this week. Loud in all of the forms. Catch up with Melbourne-based and internationally renown Alex Lahey. She talks about her open letter to Australian PM Scott Morrison about the seeming lack of support for the music and arts industry in COVID-19, and more. Nina Simone, Janis Joplin through to now for your listening pleasure.
Let’s ditch the whiskey-slugging, cowboy hat wearing, male dominated version of the Australian country music scene.
There are genuine storytellers in the mix. Australian country music is a scene where ladies are definitely outnumbered, but not to be outsung.
Clancy Pye has a ripper (in a nice way) voice, the profesh background while being an all round nice person too.
The episode features Kasey Chambers, Amber Lawrence, Sarah Blasko, Clare Bowditch and Christie Lamb in an Australian gal gang edition.
