Episode 28 is a double feature with guests Kyle Perisutti, (he/him), and Tessa Nojaim, (she/her)! Kyle is a senior at the Baldwin Wallace Conservatory of Music as a Trumpet Performance major and Business Administration minor, and Tessa is a senior Tuba Performance major at the Eastman School of Music. In this episode, my guests and I discuss their early music experiences, collegiate experiences, and the importance of being an ally to others.

Addison has performed for shows in Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Brooklyn, and Detroit under the names Addie L. and Mediumship - specializing in techno, house, and trance music. In this episode, Addison and I discuss his passion for rave and his trans identity, the trans community, and some of our early music experiences performing together.

Episode 24 features guest Dr. Arris Golden, (she/her), Assistant Director of Bands and Associate Director of the Spartan Marching Band at Michigan State University. Dr. Golden teaches courses in conducting, marching band techniques, conducts Spartan Brass, conducts the Spartan Youth Wind Symphony, and is coordinator of the MSU Performing Arts Camps. In this episode, we discuss her life and career, gender and racial equity, and the current state of music and music education.

Episode 23 features guest Lisa Lizanee Chappell, or Lisa Liz, (she/her), a freelance trombonist and teacher currently living in Yokosuka, Japan. In this episode, Lisa and I discuss her life and career, being a touring international musician, and gender equity.

Episode 22 features guest Dr. Alice Hammel, (she/her), a diverse and widely known music educator, currently teaching at James Madison and Virginia Commonwealth Universities. In addition, she has a large flute studio and is the music intervention specialist for ASSET (Autism Support, Education, and Training). In this episode, Alice and I discuss the current state of music education, social-emotional learning, promoting equity and inclusion in classrooms for all students, and her research.
