Apparently Dante is about a big of sugary, tendril-filled high fructose corn syrup beverages as he is a fan of the legions of Hell. Dante is coming to the 360 and PS3 to wage war on more cavities than Captain Novalin on January 25th.

2012 has been a bittersweet year for the video game industry. While the industry has long been seen as something of an invincible Juggernaut,this last year has seen a record number of studio closures and diminishing returns on some of the gaming industry’s most successful franchises. With the doors being shuttered on studios such as Hudson Soft, Sony Liverpool, 38 Studios, and Psygnosis shuttered over the past year, 2012 has seen both new and old studios alike surrender to the hardships of the battered economy.   While this year has certainly had it’s share of downs, we’ve still had some very positive things come out of the year. Recently the game’s supporters broke the million-point mark on the Steam-o-Meter, opening the doors for a very special bonus- savage developer humiliation, and the radiating beauty that is Femgab.

The newest playable God in Hi-Rez Studio’s battle arena bloodbath Smite is Xbalanque. This Mayan menace obtained immortality after vanquishing the fearsome Lords of Death who were responsible for the death of his father. This video highlights this vengeful warrior’s combat lethality. Xbalanque’s skill with his spinning bolas and silent blow-darts make him a force to be reckoned with in the arena.

Today ATLUS announced their plans to release their highly-acclaimed 1997 cyberpunk/horror-themed RPG Shin Megami Tensei:  Devil Summoner- Soul Hackers to non-Japanese speaking fans for the first time next Spring when it makes its way to North America on the 3DS.
