  • Hey Poor Podcast Episode 108: The Hunchback Of Notre Game
“THRILL as the hosts of the Hey Poor Podcast just take a friggin’ nap.” Well, folks, it’s official – the games industry has hit the summer slump, and that means an episode of the Hey Poor Podcast which, generously, talks about videogames for a whole 30 minutes of its 2-hour runtime. Join I “Mademoiselle Doume” Coleman, Anthony “Racist Against Centaurs” Spivey, and Nathan “Fever Dream” Terencio, all of whom got somewhere between 0 and 3 solid hours of sleep before the show starts. This means that relatively sane conversations about KantCon 2017, Kingdom Hearts’ increasingly nonsensical existence, the new anime season, and the flaws of Spider-Man: Homecoming have to share space with an argument about Coke or “Pepps,” the Great Centaur Debate, and the sound…

Well, folks, it’s official – the games industry has hit the summer slump, and that means an episode of the Hey Poor Podcast which, generously, talks about videogames for a whole 30 minutes of its 2-hour runtime. Join I “Mademoiselle Doume” Coleman, Anthony “Racist Against Centaurs” Spivey, and Nathan “Fever Dream” Terencio, all of whom got somewhere between 0 and 3 solid hours of sleep before the show starts. This means that relatively sane conversations about KantCon 2017, Kingdom Hearts’ increasingly nonsensical existence, the new anime season, and the flaws of Spider-Man: Homecoming have to share space with an argument about Coke or “Pepps,” the Great Centaur Debate, and the sound of three very confused grown men trying to understand who in the hell Minecraft: Story Mode is for, exactly. Plus: I applies his brand of extremely pretentious game criticism to the “soda or pop” debate, Nathan insists his latest anime crush is completely non-sexual, and Anthony quite frankly carries the whole show. All this and more, on the Hey Poor Podcast!
Games/Films/Etc of the week: I’s adventures at KantCon 2017, Diceless Dungeons, Artemis Bridge Simulator, T.I.M.E. Stories, Kingdom Hearts 1.5+2.5 Final Mix, the Kingdom Hearts 3 Toy Story trailer, Kiso Monogatari, Spider-Man: Homecoming¸ The Castlevania animated series, Knight’s & Magic, Aha Girl, A Centaur’s Life, Splatoon 2
Audience Questions: the game everyone on Earth should play, Coke or Pepsi, games you love despite popular opinion, how you feel about games that make you do immoral things

  • Hey Poor Podcast Episode 107: My Vending Machine Sister CAN’T Be This Cute!
“This Is I Coleman’s Last Day Of Being Alive” Jay’s not here for this week’s episode of the Hey Poor Podcast, and you know what that means: unchecked anime bullshit. Join I “Mister Tumnus Could Probably Get It” Coleman, Nathan “All Vending Machines Are Queens” Terencio, and Anthony “Japan Is Dumb” Spivey as we discuss how the Crash Bandicoot N-Sane Trilogy is definitely exactly like Dark Souls, why Reigns is probably the best mobile game of the year, the dark videogames-as-anime-girls-based timeline proposed by Superdimension Neptune, and how Battlefront II is trying to get away with being just as greedy as Battlefront 2015 (maybe.) Plus: games we’d like to see more of, Baby Driver is the best film of the year, Nathan pursues a lucrative…

  • Hey Poor Podcast Episode 106: A Miserable Little Pile Of Secrets
“It’s like a really bad Zack Snyder film. AKA any Zack Snyder film.” On this week’s episode of the Hey Poor Podcast, Nathan “Some Garbage Is Okay” Terencio returns for a surprisingly low-key and forthright chat with I “I Would Leave My Girlfriend For Doom” Coleman. We discuss everything from the mediocre games we had to review this week to the untimely death of Dawn of War III to Sony’s continued insistence on being a piece of shit to its customers. Plus: I gushes about Wonder Woman even though everyone’s already see it, Serious Sam’s Bogus Detour is the best shooter of the year, and we have a much, much too long conversation about videogame-based porn parodies. All this and more, on the Hey Poor…

  • Hey Poor Podcast Episode 105: You Have To Sell To My Mom
“Wait, wait…I Coleman? Talking about…DOOM?! I need a moment.” A mom-themed episode of the Hey Poor Podcast? How appropriate! Just in time for Father’s Day! Nathan was off, I dunno, being dead or something, so this week it’s up to I “Talks About The Same Two Videogames Every Week” Coleman, Jay “Great Service Clean Tables” Petrequin, and Anthony “I’m Sorry For The Beginning Of The Podcast” Spivey to wade through the stagnant sea of E3 hype and see if there’s anything left worth talking about. Along the way, Jay and I have another of their trademark Extremely Polite Arguments (this time about Battlefront II), Anthony and I spend way too long extolling the virtues of the Captain Underpants movie, and we actually have time to…

  • Hey Poor Podcast Episode 104: The E3 Extravaganza
“We haven’t committed any podcast crimes yet.” This week is a very special episode of the Hey Poor Podcast, and not just because it’s two days late! Regular host I Coleman is nowhere to be found, and instead, former host Jay “Objectively Wrong About In-N-Out” Petrequin leads Francis “” Dipersio, Nathan “All Women Are Queens” Terencio, and Mike “Too Old For This Shit” Vito in a discussion live from the E3 showfloor. Talking Points: Moss, OK K.O., Steven Universe: Save The Light, Sonic Mania, DragonBall Fighter Z, Ace Combat 7, Gundam Versus, Ni No Kuni 2 Have a question or coded message for the Hey Poor Podcast? • Hey Poor Podcast Episode 103: The Hey Poor Player Cinematic Universe
“If you really cared about this podcast you would kill your dogs.” Look into my single bloodshot eye. Are you ready to join the Hey Poor Player Initiative? I “Loudest Critic On The Site” Coleman, Jay “Corpul Forkul” Petrequin, Nathan “Anime” Terencio, and Anthony “Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot” Spivey certainly are, with an episode so chock-full of content that Audacity decided of its own free will to permanently delete some of our audio just to get it to the two hour mark (sorry about that.) Still, there’s a lot to enjoy, whether we’re forcing Nathan to undergo a terrible dark ritual to prove his loyalty to the show, extolling the virtues of DC’s Wonder Woman, bitching about terrible roguelikes, or giving a very in-depth explanation…

  • Hey Poor Podcast Episode 102: The Tangent Episode
“It’s very much a ‘make peace with your so-called god’ facial expression.” Now I know what you’re saying: isn’t every episode of the Hey Poor Podcast the tangent episode? Well, hypothetical friend, let me tell ya – this episode makes every other episode we’ve done look on-topic and relevant. I “I Spent Two Hours Trying To Edit The Echoes Out Of My Audio Sorry” Coleman, in particular, tramples over everyone else’s section, but Anthony “I Should See A Doctor” Spivey and Jay “I Am Happy To Agree” Petrequin get in on the action too, as we talk about everything from Chicken Run to Mirage: Arcane Warfare, Orange is the New Black to how to get that perfect Danny DeVito body. Also: exciting new developments in…
