This week I am joined by Yoga Teacher Devin Garcia who has a Canadian based yoga school and teaches many people how to begin on their yoga journey. She explains how the mindset around being flexible is often a hindrance to those considering taking up a yoga practice. People often see those incredible poses and think there is no way they will get there. But yoga isn't about competition (you can set goals) or just about super-flexible poses (nice, but you don't have to get there). We discuss ways in which you can change that mindset and develop a healthy, relaxing, and invigorating daily practice. I ask her about mindfulness, the spirituality of yoga, how to incorporate it into your daily life and how she began her teaching journey. Devin offers online courses as well as one-to-one instruction. She is a lovely and down to earth soul who has found her niche and is making a mindful and informed contribution to our world. Join me as I welcome Mayara Souza, a Sound Therapist to the show. We speak about how sound affects our physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. Mayara joins me from Brazil, and she shares her experiences with healing through sound. Mayara is such a generous soul, and she shares her upbringing and the challenges that it entailed. She endured abuse that led her into an alcohol dependency at a very young age. Through over a decade of personal healing work and extensive research on trauma healing, sacred plant medicine, meditation, quantum physics, epigenetics and consciousness, Mayara is a Certified Sound Therapist and Holistic Wellness Practitioner, and she uses acoustic sound and holistic practices to help her clients to heal and regulate their nervous system and to release energy blocks and emotions that might be trapped somewhere in the body causing mental, physical, and emotional unbalance and distress. She uses her story to inspire others, and we talk about how self-disclosure is not always the best in our world of social media and how we can navigate it's use for our benefit.

I am joined by the very talented and world-renowned artist development specialist Judy Stakee, who has over four decades of music experience and is known as the champion of the songwriter. Judy worked closely with the legendary and highly regarded record producer Clive Davis at Arista Music. She also looked after Carole King and Barry Mann, and she spent 20 years as Senior VP of Creative at Warner Chappell Music and she developed, managed, and signed many of their superstar roster including Sheryl Crow, Michelle Branch and Jewel, among others. Judy is past president of the National Songwriters Association and a songwriter and vocalist. She has amassed hundreds of ASCAP and BMI awards for her songwriters, and many Grammy, AMAs, MTV, and CMA awards for those she has mentored and helped in her career. Judy very generously shared some fantastic stories about the industry, how it works and very exciting times, one involves an infamous and well-loved singer. You don’t want to miss this!

Chris Ferretti is an actor, comedian, playwright and voice-over artist and has just released his first comedy special 'Loaded for Lunacy' filmed at Don’t Tell Mama in NYC. We delve into Chris's writing process, life lessons, the philosophy of comedy, and the creativity of laughter. It was a joy to speak with him, and we have a friend in common whom we speak about. *This episode is a tribute to two great people: Robin Harris (late great actor and comedian), and Lawrence Baulden (late great musician).
Exetta Harris is a singer songwriter and has also worked in the fashion industry. Exetta is the wife of the late actor and comedian Robin Harris (died in 1990 of cardiac arrest) who starred in such films as ‘I'm Gonna Git You Sucka’, ‘Do the Right Thing’, ‘Harlem Nights’, ‘House Party’, and ‘Mo' Better Blues’. After his untimely passing, Exetta began the Robin Harris Foundation in memory of his name to empower youth in under-served communities. She is also an advocate for ’Nurturing Justice’ https://nurturingjustice.org, through relational transformation.
I met Exetta many years ago as my cousin Lawrence Baulden, bass player (passed away in 2018), produced some music for her. He gave me the cassette and I happen it find it amongst some things recently, so we discuss this pleasant surprise.
