Samuel “Uncle Sam” Turner’s infamous Broken Rock Massacre was hardly the beginning of Frontierville’s history, but it marked the start of its modern era and cast a crooked shadow over the future generations of outlaws, renegades, dropouts, freakers, seekers, and cranks who would be drawn to its once hallowed ground.
