"A High Horse Guide To England". Featuring J Dot as your host for the evening. Fred Nations bringing facts and insight. Andy Establishment being understated and relaxed (NOT!!) and LinQ not caring about anyone else but his self realised, edgy, egotistical self (joking mostly). @highhorseradio on Twitter for any feedback or topics that you'd like discussed...
Rule, Britannia, marmalade and jam, five Chinese crackers up you're asshole, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang!!. Now put some kippers on you're toast and grab an umbrella, cause we are journeying over to the motherland, Great Britain!. Nobody in the history of civilisation has spread their seed quite as much as our pasty pale brothers and sisters from across the sea's. These tea and crumpet lovers are like family to us Aussies. Yeah sure, these winging poems, with their bad teeth and smelly breath, hauled us across the planet on large ships, a tactic designed to rid there superior society of thieves and no good felons who threaten to tarnish their great Anglo-Saxon heritage. Little did they realise that the chosen land of exile, was in fact a tropical oasis that birthed one of the greatest nations, not only in the microcosm of the western world, but indeed the broader universe. Both Andy Establishment and LinQ have resided in the UK during their younger formative years, creating a bond with England, London in particular, that will always be a part of their personality and spirit, the essence of who they are. JDot's dad was born in romford, which is a large town in east London, and came over on a 3 month voyage in the year that was 1968. So i would say that our unique perspective here at High Horse Radio, is exactly that.
Come on over to England - the birthplace of Shakespeare and the Beatles - it is a country in the British Isles bordering Scotland and Wales. The capital, London, is on the river Thames, is home of Parliament and the 11th century Tower of London, but is also a multicultural, 21st century hub for the arts and business in "The City". Other large cities are Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool, Bristol, and the university centres of Oxford and Cambridge. Contributions to the world include : Newton's Laws, Smallpox Vaccination, The Programmable Computer, The Electric Motor, World Wide Web, Photography, Jet Engine, Railway Steam Locomotive, Television, Telephone.
Famous Musicians And Bands include : Queen, Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, The Sex Pistols, The Cure, Black Sabbath, The Who, The Clash, Radiohead, Coldplay, Muse, Pink Floyd...the list goes on!...The Smiths, New Order, The Police, Oasis, Blur, Arctic Monkeys, Kaiser Chiefs, Spice Girls, The Streets, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Chemical Brothers, Prodigy.....Sorry had to take a breath. As you can see we have done our homework, and all the above is only about 15% of whats on offer.
Some Fun British Facts Include : There are 30,000 people with the name John Smith in England.. The first fish and chips restaurant was opened in 1820 by a Jewish immigrant.. Nowhere in the UK is more than 70 miles (113km) from the sea.. England brought the world soccer, rugby, and polo. But did you know that Cricket was actually played in France 80 years before England, sometime in the 1500's (this particular fact makes LinQ furious).
Seriously, a crazy amount of audio gold and interesting insight is provided in this High Horse Radio special presentation. So come join the panel as they present their version of the history of England. Hope you enjoy this episode.....
