I have been looking forward to speaking with Deonne, who I met through my wife. Deonne's curiosity in the creative experience immediately makes me consider her an artist, even if she might not say so herself. Deonne is currently working on an awesome project called Stranded With You, which uses embroidery to create activism, awareness, and financial support for non-profits, such as Parley for the Oceans. You can also check out another project Deonne is currently working on called Loop, an app that is like "exercising" for your mental health at loop.co. Please rate and review High School Daze on your favorite platform for podcasts and send any questions or comments to [email protected]. You can also follow High School Daze and Stranded With You on the "gram" our handles are @highschooldazepod & @strandedwithyou.
Deena Crawley, Chief of Staff and Director of Marketing at Dion's, joins us to give some insight into marketing. She also shares her story about how she began with the restaurant chain based out of New Mexico, plus some words of wisdom as she reflects on high school. As always you can send questions or comments to [email protected], or rate and review us wherever you listen to your podcasts.
We kick off Season 2 with my man "Berto" Reyes. This man is constantly supporting youth artists in ABQ with his work at Warehouse 508. Talking to him always feels like talking to a family member. He shares what he has been up to and what positive has come from the continuation of living during the time of a pandemic. Remember you can send your questions or comments to [email protected]. Feel free to reach out if you would also like to be on the show!
I am so excited to have spoken to Hedy, who was a former student of mine. She is so well rounded as an artist, even tempered, and I can’t help but be proud of being able to have crossed paths with her on my teaching journey.
Jordyn & Monique, join us to talk about their role in Plates Against Patriarchy. We discuss the impact it has had and also the discomfort it has caused to shake the foundations of oppression... and also who doesn’t like a giant cookie or Flamin’ Hot Cheetos (with nacho cheese)?
Join me as I speak to Noé about his large scale works currently found around various neighborhoods of Albuquerque. He is also the man behind the murals celebrating our local soccer team, the New Mexico United, which has really made a positive impact in the city and state.
Join me as I speak with fellow podcaster and host of the Dads On Podcast, Richard Rojo. It’s always good catching up with this dude... I just don’t know about 3 Musketeers, not my favorite candy bar.
Join me as I speak to Lonnie Anderson creative ninja, father, husband, and activist. I always am fascinated by the stories Lonnie has because of his sense of wonder of the world.
Welcome my teacher colleagues from Albuquerque High School as we talk about the current situation as we prepare to start a new school year during the covid pandemic.
