In this episode featuring Sumay Kalra, we put a current issue concerning the November ballot in California---Proposition 16, otherwise known as ACA 5, on the table. ACA 5 seeks to repeal proposition 209, which guaranteed that public education, public employment, and public contracting remain free from discrimination based on race, sex, color, ethnicity or national origin. ACA 5 is part of a larger practice called affirmative action that attempt to aid the minority population in their social status and has since its creation been deemed as a controversial issue. Is it truly fair to give minorities an advantage for public education enrollment? In this episode, we delve deep into this discussion.
