On January 5, 2016, President Obama announced a series of executive actions that he will take to reduce gun violence in the United States. This is a particularly timely and important topic for our nation’s campuses, as gun violence is a potential reality that all colleges and universities face. What do student affairs administrators and other leaders in higher education need to know about the history, trends, and background of gun violence to inform effective campus policy? What are student affairs professional associations doing to help inform the discussion surrounding concealed carry and allowing guns on campus?
This episode of Higher Ed Live will feature a conversation with contributors to new book for student affairs administrators, College in the Crosshairs: Administrative Perspective on Prevention of Gun Violence. Joining Student Affairs Live host Heather Shea Gasser is Brian Hemphill and Brandi Hephner LaBanc, the books editors, NASPA President Kevin Kruger, and ACPA Executive Director Cindi Love.
