It's October 1st and you know what that means, party people! It's spooky season! All month long, we are going to be sharing tales of creepy history and today we kick it off with two people in history who created the iconic Frankenstein's Monster and Count Dracula--both directly and indirectly, respectively.  That's right, we are discussing Mary Shelley and her novel Frankenstein Or, A Modern Prometheus as well as Vlad the Impaler and Bram Stoker's novel, Dracula.

We've got a megasode for episode 10 with some big, roller coaster stories for you and guess what? They are both in the same country and nearly the same time as well!  

First KT covers the vigilante story of a group of Holocaust survivors called Nakam, who exacted revenge against the Nazis and their helpers after WWII.  Next, Laurel has quite the long, cinematic story of the first major escape from East Berlin with Tunnel 29.  As of the release of this episode, the Tunnel 29 escape happened this past week (September 14th) 59 years ago in history!

We start with Laurel's story about Thocmetony, later named Sarah Winnemucca, who was a Northern Paiute educator, author and advocate for her people.  She lived a hard life walking between two worlds with critics on both sides.  After leaving Western America in the 1800s, KT takes us north to Canada and then to England during World War I where we learn the heartwarming story of the real Winnie the bear, who inspired A.A. Milne's Winnie the Pooh series!  The nostalgia FLOWS!

But we made it.  And we're so glad you're here.  In this episode, Laurel covers the story of what she always called "Operation: Argo" but is actually called The Canadian Caper which took place while all eyes were on the Iranian Hostage Crisis at the U.S. Embassy in 1979/1980.  Afterwards, KT takes us back to feudal Japan with a name that might be familiar in both pop culture and samurai history: Hattori Honzo, also known as Demon Honzo for his ability to stalk adversaries as persistently and stealthily as a demon (and his ruthless nature!)

Welcome to episode 7!
