Carmen Rao and Joel Salvino, creators of the Wild West Trail share an overview of the trail along with their adventures hiking it.
The Wild West Trail connects the most intact temperate ecosystem on the planet. At over 2,200 miles long it traverses the heart of the North American Continent. The genesis of the hike is in Jarbidge Nevada, from there the arduous journey shoots northward to the Canadian Border. Turning east, it turns south inside Glacier National Park and the eastern terminus is Jackson pass, in the Teton Mountains (source: wildwesttrail.co)

Derick Lugo chats with Lori about hiking the Appalachian Trail and his memoir "The Unlikely Thru-Hiker".*
The Unlikely Thru-Hiker is the story of a young black man setting off from the city with an extremely overweight pack and a willfully can-do attitude. What follows are lessons on preparation, humility, race relations, and nature’s wild unpredictability. Through it all, Derick “Mr. Fabulous” Lugo refuses to let any challenge squash his inner Pollyanna, persevering with humor, tenacity, and an unshakeable commitment to grooming that sees him from Georgia to Maine. Greg Smith is a retired CIO who hikes and backpacks along with his Australian Shepherd Brook. In this episode we talk about his annual trip to hike Mt. Hood's Timberline Trail - a loop that takes you around the mountain in just over 40 miles. Beyond Mt. Hood, we talk about section hiking on the Colorado Trail, his hike earlier this year on the Lost Coast Trail in Northern California and his favorite hike near the Oregon Coast and other must see places in Oregon. Greg blogs about his hikes over at Adventurecontinues.org - where you can find his photographs and trip reports documenting hikes all over the Pacific Northwest and beyond.

Alex has big goals for 2020 as part of Granite Gear's Grounds Keeper Legacy Team. She's committed to picking up 2,020 pounds of trash. That's over a ton of trash from public spaces in Southern California. As you'll learn, Alex has a passion for adventure, list making and finding ways to leave it better than she found it.
This conversation contains two parts. First, I recently caught up with Alex a few months after we originally recorded our interview. We chat about cleaning up during COVID-19 while we're not able to visit some of the trails we would like to hike on. Then we will dive into our longer conversation, where we get to really now what inspires Alex and how her drive got her recognized by Granite Gear and accepted into their Grounds Keeper program. Ultimately, Alex stressed how baby steps can truly change our world if we commit to one small change at a time.
