1. What are the details of this letter? (Genesis 1:1, John 1:1, 1 John 1:1)

2. John was an eyewitness. (1 John 1:1-3)

3. Jesus is life. (John 1:4, 10:10, 1 John 1:1-2)

4. God is light. (John 1:4-9, 1 John 1:5)

5. Confess your sins.

    (Psalm 32:3-5, Proverbs 28:13, James 5:16, 1 John 1:9)

6. Walk in the light. (1 John 1:6-7)

7. Only Jesus can make us clean! (1 John 1:7)

Next steps...

• Don’t cherish sin, but instead confess and renounce it. Ask the Lord to help you “walk in the light” each day.
• Read and reflect on John 1:4 “In him was life, and that life was the light of men.” Thank God that we can find both light and life in Christ!
• Thank the Lord that He can purify us from all of our sin and unrighteousness.  Share this good news with others as you have the opportunity.

“MY REDEEMER LIVES!”

2. How certain are you? (Job 19:25, 2 Corinthians 5:1, Hebrews 11:1)

3. The end is coming. (Job 19:25, Psalm 103:15-16, Hebrews 9:27)

4. Jesus will be the last one standing.

    (Job 19:25, Zechariah 14:3-4, Philippians 2:10-11)

5. We will see God. (Job 19:26-27, 1 Corinthians 15:42-44, 1 John 3:2)

Next steps...

• Invite Jesus to be your Redeemer and to save you from your sins so that you will be forgiven and have eternal life. 
• Think about the brevity of life as reflected in passages like Psalm 103:15-17.  Are you ready to meet the Lord?
• Join the Apostle Peter in his confidence that Christ’s resurrection gives us in 1 Peter 1:3-4: “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade—kept in heaven for you...”

“DO WE HAVE TO OBEY THE GOVERNMENT?”

1. God has given the government their authority.

    (Romans 13:1-2, 1 Timothy 2:1-2)

2. Everyone must obey the law. (Romans 13:1)

3. We are naturally rebellious. (Romans 13:1-7, Romans 3:23, 7:15-25)

4. Disobeying the law is like disobeying God. (Romans 13:2)

5. There are consequences for disobedience. (Romans 13:1-4)

6. Live peaceful and quiet lives. (1 Timothy 2:1-2)

Next steps...

• Thank the Lord that we live in a society where most people respect and obey the rule of law most of the time.
• Remember to regularly pray for those that God has placed in authority over us at the federal, state and local levels, that their decisions would be based on good and godly principles and would lead to human flourishing.
• Ask those closest to you how you might do better at living a peaceful and quiet life in all godliness and holiness. (1 Timothy 2:2)

“LONG LIVE THE KING!”

Next steps...

• Reflect on Jesus as your King. How do you honor Him?  How might you honor Him more?  
• Ask God to make you weep for those who don’t know Jesus.  Then offer yourself to do and say as He directs you in order see more people come to faith in Christ. 
• Give thanks for Jesus sacrificial death on the cross for you and ponder what you’re willing to sacrifice in order for someone else to be saved.

• How is Jesus mysteriously present with you when you take communion? If you could hear him speaking to you as you eat the bread and drink the cup, what would he be saying?
