Today, from the exchange between John the Baptist and Herod Antipas, our pastor issues a stern warning--beware the entertainment of preaching! In Mark 6:20, we're told that Herod "used to enjoy listening to" John. Herod did nothing with what John said--namely, to repent--"but he used to enjoy listening to him." Preaching as a form of entertainment is a dangerous thing, in part because it masquerades as something so commendable. But in the end, if all we are is entertained, it is condemnable. Beware the entertainment of preaching!

Happy Resurrection Sunday! Today our pastor grapples with non-believers' objection to God's existence, certainly God's goodness, because of the pain and suffering in the world. "If there were a God, how could He allow all the bad things that happen in the world?" Preaching from Romans 8:28, Dr. Robertson makes a case for the Death and Resurrection of Jesus as the definitive example of God "caus[ing] all things to work together for good" (i.e. transforming incomprehensible hurt into infinite hope).
