Dr. Curtis Linton had spoken for out Fall revival this past year and is certainly no stranger to our church people. In town on business with our affiliate Bible college, he came to preach for us once again this Wednesday.

The message, originating from Psalm 137, lead us into a study of the "song," or joy/life of a "captured Christian." There are times when struggles and sufferings, circumstances and situations rush in on a Christian. There is then that potential for him to slow his pace, or even stray from the Lord; however, there is an encouraging truth to be found in that the goings of a Christian are but his own decisions and the Lord is ever-loving and ever-longing to restore unto us the joy of our salvation--to put that new song back in our hearts.

This is Part two of a now three-part message on the gift of the Holy Ghost. Pastor Jeff is addressing the common misinterpretations of the functions of the Holy Spirit in the Christian's life today by Charismatics. This message is by no means intended to be an offense to the movement, but a defense of today's biblical reality. By Introduction, we are reminded that the book of Acts is a book of transition, in which the power of God was embodied in various unique ways in order to confirm the authority of the apostles. Tonight's message speaks more specifically to the misuse of these verses as proof-texts which are married to verses concerning the immutability of God, thereby resulting in unbiblical doctrines which. These teachings have been abused and produce a group of believers that base their belief on experience and searching for these spiritual gifts more than a believer basing his or her life on the truth & final authority of the closed canon of Scripture.
