We've all heard that Children of God are known by the love they have for one another.  But what does that really look like?  In our 1 John study, we are contrasting the Children of God vs the Children of the Devil.  We’ll see today that one of the most profound ways Children of God love each other is how they treat the teachings of God.  In other words, not spreading false teachings about the person and work of Christ is a primary way believers love one another.

(Part 6) As a Child of God do you sometimes still live in fear or shame of things about your past? According to John Fonville, when a Child of God is being crippled by shame and guilt is not life, it’s hell on earth. Christians sometimes say they dread the day when Christ returns because of their past failures.  The series we are currently in explores why Children of God do not have worry about that day.  In contrast, the followers of Satan on that day, will have much to face.

Running the race of life day after day -- especially the Christian life is absolutely exhausting.  It means we need to receive spiritual, rest and nourishment.  Where does that come from?  John says, spiritual nourishment comes from the means of grace, which is preaching, baptism, and the Lord's Supper.
