Even though most of us would affirm that we believe we are justified by faith alone apart from works, we are often led astray in our consciences and end up placing our hope on something we are doing, feeling, or manifesting as the grounds of our assurance. This shift seems logical, but it often leads us to split our hope for salvation between Jesus, and our works. Join us this week as we look at Galatians 3, and see what Paul has to say about adding our works to Jesus' works for final salvation.
How exactly is it that we can have assurance that we are in Christ? Is it through our dedication? Our obedience? Our sincerity? Our affections? Or is it something else? Join Brad and Michael as we discuss the true ground of our assurance as Christians?
Join us this week as we tackle more implications of what we believe is a correct understanding of Ephesians 4:11-15. What is the pastors role? What do we do as non-ordained believers? What about private devotions? Rest assured Christian, Christ is for you, and He will build his church.
Who's job is it to do the "work of ministry"? Is the pastor preparing the saints for thier work of ministry, or is preparing the saints itself the work of ministry? Join us this week as we explore Ephesians 4:11-14 and tease apart what the reformers believed about this passage, and how that affects our vocations, churches, and pastors.
Far from leading to a life of lawlessness, the Reformation sought to recover the holiness of vocation, root devotion in the assembly, and gather saints together to grow in fellowship and the word. Join us this week as we discuss how the Reformers viewed piety, vs. how we often hear piety talked about in modern contexts.
So, you've got gospel clarity now. Law gospel distinction and Christ centered christianity are brining you peace and rest like never before, but so many people you know don't get it, and you don't know what to do about it. Join us this week for a practical episode where we attempt to give some practical attitudes and actions to help you navigate your church culture.
While we don't fully understand the way that Christ is present in the sacraments, we do know that he has given them to us as a tangible means of grace. Join us this week as we look at the connection between John 6 and Numbers 11, and how Jesus is the true bread that came down from heaven.
The Sacraments have had a rough go of it for the past century. Let's make liturgy great again by recognizing the immense and cosmic mysteries being handed freely to us weekly by the Church.
What exactly is Jesus saying in Matthew 16 when he says "deny yourself, pick up your cross, and follow me?" Join Brad and Michael as we take a look at this often misunderstood and misused passage.
How often are we given Christ with one hand, only to have him snatched away with the other? We are told that forgiveness is of the Lord, but sanctification is our job. The apostles teach a very different reality in the epistles. They assert that Christ is not only our forgiveness, but also our righteousness, wisdom, and sanctification. Join us this week as we seek to recover Christ himself as the mystery of godliness.
