The theory of social validation in psychology is actually conforming to habits within a social group or setting. However the term is also used when someone or even ourselves is seeking out validation from an external person/people. Learning to value your own opinion over all and trust your judgement can unlock confidence and ease anxiety in any setting. We just have to be patient and consistent.
In this long overdue episode I break down Maslow's hierarchy of needs as an everyday part of life. We often feel guilty for not accomplishing all of the things on our "to do" list and become overwhelmed by completing tasks. Even though everything on our list is a necessity in its own way, each item doesn't have the same urgency. Which is why goal prioritization and understanding our own individual hierarchy of needs is important for self care.
For those that feel socially awkward or anxious in the gym this is the episode for you. It is important to know that even those who aren’t diagnosed with social anxiety disorder can feel anxious in social settings.
