His Life, Now! with David Hughes

The word of God is the cure for all our “abby-normal” thinking.  The Word was in the beginning before all of creation, the Word is forever settled in heaven – the Word is Jesus!  Jesus is the truth amid all our rhetoric and opinions.  Jesus doesn’t have just the last word, He is the first […]

Is Jesus politically correct?  Isaiah chapter 9 reveals to us that the government [rule;dominion] will rest on His shoulders and there will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace. This was a message shared at Benson First just prior to the elections in the U.S. to remind us that no […]

God doesn’t rest His kingdom on one individual among us – His kingdom rests and resides in Christ through ALL of us!  Our willingness to participate opens the door for the Lord’s ministry through each of us.  We need child-like faith to step up and ask the Holy Spirit, “What’s my part?”  We will then […]

The kingdom of God is a celebration and we are called to unpack the party wherever we are.  We have this treasure in clay pots to show the surpassing greatness of the power is of God and not us.  The Message translation says, “Hard times are small potatoes compared to the lavish celebration prepared for […]

Psalm 34 says to bless the Lord at all times, His praise shall continually be in my mouth!  We can praise the Lord in the midst of everything, because He is not changed by anything!  Lift up your voice, you are not hemmed in – life is wide open in Christ!

“Gentlemen, this is a football” – Vince Lombardi would start training camp for his pro football teams by holding a football up and making this statement. He knew the basics were essential for playing well as a player and a team.  For us we must never lose sight of the reality of this basic truth … “Child of […]

“Toto, we’re not in Kansas anymore” – as a new creation in Christ we have been crucified to this world and this world to us (Galatians 6:14-15).  We have been translated out of the kingdom of darkness and into the kingdom of God’s dear son.  This does not mean that the new creation is irrelevant […]

If we are a new creation in Christ, what happened to the old creation; the old man?  May we look to Jesus’ redemptive work for insight.  Two great questions to ponder in the Lord – 1) What happened to Jesus in the redemptive work of the cross and resurrection?  2) Were you there?  We need […]
