Deeper Than Money

His money & Her Money

Listen Later

Engaged gang

Wedding update—so far we have literally been under our planned spending in every category and it’s been fun AF.

Today we are going to be talking about a mindset shift:

Your money & his money.

Right now, if you’re not married—there’s yours and there is his.

But When you’re signing up for marriage, you are signing up to combining your lives—finances and all.

So often, I get asked about couples finances, which is why I created Wealthier Together.

But here are 5 questions you NEED to ask yourself about finances before marriage:

  1. Am I fully confident that we are on the same page with money?
  2. Do I fully trust my partner to have our best interest in mind with our finances?
  3. Do I clearly understand our financial plan and have complete confidence in following it?
  4. Is our communication around money open and fun?
  5. Am I all in for combining finances with my partner?
  6. Do I understand that going all in for the marriage means having the same bank account?
  7. What are the steps we need to take if we answered “no” to any or all of these questions?

Wealthier together

  1. You aren’t ALL in for the marriage.
  2. You aren’t on the same page with money.
  3. You don’t trust your partner with “your” money or your partner doesn’t trust you with “his” money.

THATS IT. Period. Those are the only three reasons that you’re not conjoining finances.
