History Deletes Itself

The blessed event that caused a recent delay in our production schedule is finally explained in Episode #7. Hint: The stork arrived early! 1985 was a big year for us personally, as we had one foot out the high school door and the other in a punk rock dive bar just across the river. For 1985 Part 1 we barely scratch the surface of the many great songs and albums released that year. And usually our acoustic cover versions of hits from the 1980s is a spontaneous, irreverent affair. But things take a slightly more serious and romantic turn in Episode 7 as Rickie tackles a classic by The Outfield. We cast a wide net, get addicted to love, go crazy from the heat, and discuss a number of artists from the 80s who suffered the precipitous descent 'From Legit To Shit'.

Nostradamus once said, “When 50-year old dudes in Ohio are podcasting that's when you'll know it's no

longer considered cool.” Bearing the great man's wisdom in mind we decide to soldier on and have a

little fun with it anyway. Maybe a little too much fun in Episode 6, considered by many to be a tipsy

shambles. Do we ever really get around to a serious discussion of world events from 1984? Or are we

simply reliving our own glory daze through a semi-drunken haze? We find out who really came out on

top in the legal case of Huey Lewis vs. Ray Parker Jr., Ric surprises Blake with an actual pop culture

artifact from 1984, and the duo takes on their very first acoustic mash-up in this exciting episode.

So much amazing stuff happened in 1984 that we decided to dedicate two episodes to its monumental

yet still debatable status as one of the most influential years in pop culture. In Part 1 of our first-ever 2-

parter, we attempt to catalog all the great music released that year and barely scratch the surface! So

full of it are we with love for the music of 1984 (and other things) that bursting into song is unavoidable!

Who was Ric calling every day in January that would eventually hire him on full-time by the end of that

year? Which member(s) of Journey released solo efforts in 1984 that still echo in Blake’s heart? Our
