This week, Scott remembers the time in World War II when a wheat shortage briefly led the U.S. to ban sliced bread. Also: Martin Luther King, Jr. is born (though not originally with that name); two women make their careers by working with great apes; the famous international symbol of peace is created (originally a symbol of the push for nuclear disarmament); and Aaron pleads with people to make the arguments they actually believe, rather than whatever arguments conveniently support their position.
