'Hit and Running Up a Tab' & 'DNA Test About Their Dads'

Listen Later

First, The plaintiff spent time in prison for selling crack. She says she saw her nephew, the defendant, going down a similar path, so she took him in. She claims the defendant borrowed her car, then crashed it and fled. Her nephew got into a car chase with the police and crashed it again, so she’s suing for car damages. The defendant says he believed the fines he paid covered the cost of the car repairs.

Then, The plaintiff was raised by her grandparents. She says she met her dad when he was in prison, and on her dad’s deathbed years later, he said she didn’t have any siblings. The plaintiff met the defendant, who is claiming to be her half-sister. She’s petitioning the court for a sibling DNA test. The defendant says she lost touch with her dad when she was a young girl and believes she and the plaintiff are related.
