Some of the greatest disappointments in life happen when we love deeply and don't receive that love in return. Whether it's in business, friendships, leadership, or family, it's easy to begin believing that our kindness was wasted, our generosity was taken for granted, or our trust was misplaced. But what if none of it was ever lost?
In this episode, Wendy shares one of the deepest truths behind the Do You Speak Bride philosophy: love is never measured by the outcome. When we choose to serve, give, and lead from genuine love, we are transformed in the process. Even when relationships disappoint us, even when customers misunderstand us, even when people take instead of give, the strength we built through loving remains. Love doesn't make us weaker. It makes us stronger, wiser, and more capable of creating businesses and relationships that are rooted in courage instead of fear.
This conversation is an invitation to stop protecting yourself from disappointment and start building a life that cannot be diminished by it. Because nothing done in love is ever wasted.
In this episode, Wendy Rivera shares the foundational beliefs that shape every lesson inside Do You Speak Bride and why understanding brides begins long before learning sales techniques. Discover the 10 (plus one bonus) essential truths about brides that will transform the way you serve, lead, and create unforgettable life moments for every bride who walks through your doors!
What if the greatest freedom in life is realizing your worth was never tied to your performance? In this episode, Wendy shares why knowing who you are changes the way you approach success, failure, uncertainty, and every opportunity in between. Through heartfelt stories and practical wisdom, she reminds us that lasting confidence isn't built on outcomes, but on living with purpose, courage, and love. When your identity is rooted in something deeper than your results, you're free to grow, take risks, and become the person you were created to be.
What goals are shaping the way you live, lead, and love others?
This is the third and final episode in a series where Wendy shares the values her very dear K4 teacher, Mrs. Altizer, instilled in her. Have you considered the goals you've set for yourself lately and how they are influencing your daily activities and focus? Well, let's discuss it!
Being intentional about the goals we put in front of ourselves is absolutely imperative. It's easy to measure success by numbers, performance, or the fear of falling short, but those things were never meant to define us. The greatest impact we can make comes from seeing people, encouraging their growth, and helping them become who they were created to be. When we choose to build people instead of simply chasing results, we discover that meaningful success has a way of following. I hope this conversation encourages you to take a fresh look at the goals shaping your life and the legacy you're creating every day.
If I were to ask you who was one of the strongest examples of effective leadership that you’ve ever experienced, who would it be? For me, I am amazed at how much my mind goes back to someone who called out the best in me every single day, and it was when I was only four years old.
My kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Altizer is one of the strongest examples of leading with love and creating a culture of growth that I have ever experienced, and I have spent my life trying to emulate the principles that she lived out for me as a wide eyed buck toothed four-year-old. In this episode, I talk about three more things that Mrs. Altizer did every day that shaped my entire life as a leader. These three things we can apply to our leadership in business, in our families, and in our communities.
Never underestimate the power of leading through love. It is not soft. It is not rainbows and unicorns. It is strong. It is intentional. And it is absolutely life-changing.

Imagine being four years old and walking into your classroom each morning knowing your teacher is genuinely excited to see you. Before a single lesson began, Mrs. Altizer greeted every student with a warm hug and a smile that made us feel like the most important people in the room. She didn't just teach us our letters and numbers. She taught us what it feels like to be valued, celebrated, and loved.
For me, that wasn't a dream teacher.
That was my reality.
In this special series, I'm sharing the stories of the women who shape the world by living out what love truly is. One such woman, I was blessed to meet when I was 4 years old - she was my K4 teacher, Mrs. Altizer.
Mrs. Altizer had a remarkable gift. She saw every child with delight. It didn't matter where we came from, what our abilities were, or whether we were having a good day or a difficult one. She welcomed each of us with the same warmth, belief, and joy. In her classroom, you felt seen. You felt heard. You felt like your thoughts mattered.
Even as a curious four year old eager to share every new thing I learned, she never made me feel silly or insignificant. She created a space that invited us to keep sharing, keep learning, and keep growing. She had a way of making every child feel like they had something valuable to contribute.
What impacted me most was how she approached correction. Growth, not shame, was always the goal. There was no intimidating timeout corner in Mrs. Altizer's classroom. Instead, there was the Sugar Factory, a place where you went to get sweetened up. It was such a simple idea, yet it carried a profound message: your mistakes do not define you. You are not labeled by your worst moments. You can grow. You can learn. You can become better.
Looking back, I realize what an incredible gift it was to encounter that kind of love at such an early age. The way Mrs. Altizer saw people shaped the way I see people today. Her example taught me that leadership begins with delight, that listening is an act of love, and that believing in someone's potential can change the trajectory of their life.
Maybe you've had a teacher, mentor, or leader who impacted you the way Mrs. Altizer impacted me. I hope you have. Because when someone chooses to see you with kindness, patience, and belief, their influence reaches far beyond a classroom. It stays with you for a lifetime.

In this episode I'm talking about one of the most important truths I've ever hit save on — that whatever you consciously observe, you will unconsciously absorb. And that means the way you're watching the people around you is either building your life or quietly draining it.
Are you watching high performers with curiosity or jealousy? Are you sitting with people who are swimming forward or drowning together? Are you collecting proof of why you can't — or evidence of how you can?
It's not a charmed life. It's a chosen path.
And the beautiful thing? You can choose it too.

You tried. It didn't work. Now what?
In this episode we're talking about failure — what it actually means, what it's supposed to teach you, and why the way you respond to it will determine everything about what comes next.
Because here's the thing: failing the same way over and over is very different from failing forward. And most people never learn the difference.
We'll cover:
Thomas Edison didn't bring light to the world by avoiding failure. He brought light to the world because he refused to make the same failure twice.
That's available to you too.
Fail. Learn. Grow. Repeat. That's not a setback — that's an education.
I want to ask you something.
Is it the space? Is it the gowns? Is it today's brides who just can't make a decision?
Because if that's what you're saying — I need you to hear this — you're right. Whatever you've decided to believe is exactly what your reality will be.
In this episode I'm getting honest about the thing that is actually holding you back. And I promise you, it's not the lighting, or the dress selection, or the generation of brides walking through your door.
I started Ava Laurenne with 22 dresses and two veils. I conducted a 13-person choir with a tone-deaf member and won Nationals. And I'm telling you from experience —
Your limitations don't stop you. They just inform the path forward.
This one is for anyone who has ever looked outside themselves for the reason they're not succeeding. It's also for anyone who's about to break a record that everyone around them says can't be broken.
You have everything you need. Right now. In your hands.
Go prove it. 💪

You started this job — or this relationship, or this season — completely lit up. And somewhere along the way, the fire got quiet.
That's not failure. That's burnout. And it's more common than anyone talks about.
In this episode we're diving deep into what burnout actually is, where it comes from, and the four specific things that either cause it or cure it — whether you're a bridal stylist, a teacher, a parent, or just someone who cares deeply about what they do.
We'll cover:
This episode is a reset. A reminder that the energy you brought at the beginning? It wasn't an accident. And it can come back.
See the gowns again for the first time. See the people again for the first time. Watch what happens.
