This week, we go inside the Body Empowerment Project, the Philly-born program reshaping how teens understand health, self-worth, and eating disorder prevention. Christina Miranda, co-founder and Stanford medical student, joins us to talk about what the system gets wrong, why prevention matters, and how early, inclusive education can change the trajectory of a young person’s life.

When Mica discovered hobby horsing in 2019, she was mesmerized by the artistry and athleticism of the sport. What started as a hobby soon became a huge passion, crafting horses, opening her Etsy shop, and eventually co-founding the United States Hobby Horse Championships.

Elisa Ma is a competitive dragon boat paddler from San Francisco and a member of Team USA’s U18 crew. This summer, she represented the United States at the World Dragon Boat Championships in Germany, where she raced against top youth teams from around the globe. Passionate about bringing more attention to the sport, Elisa hopes to inspire other young athletes (especially girls) to discover the strength, teamwork, and adrenaline that make dragon boat racing so special.

Jordyn Barratt is a groundbreaking American skateboarder and surfer. Known for her bronze debut at the 2016 X-Games, she was the first female junior pro to compete in both sports at the VANS U.S. Open, joined the inaugural U.S. Skateboarding National Team, and competed in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Ida Nilsson is a Swedish long-distance runner who also competes in ski mountaineering. In 2003 – 2006 she won a total of ten gold medals in Swedish championships in track & field and cross country running, plus two NCAA gold medals. After many five years away from training, Nilsson won the Swedish championship in ski mountaineering in 2016 and a couple of months later won the prestigious Transvulcania ultramarathon.

Miranda Melville is a 4x national champion racewalker, American record holder and a member of the 2016 Olympic Team for the 20k racewalk.
