In this special podcast, we commemorate the 6th Battalion of the Northumberland Fusiliers and 110th anniversary of the battle of St. Julien on April 26th 1915.
The podcast features Lost Letters of the Battalion who were part of the City Battalion, they were one of the first territorial battalions to be sent into action in the Great War 1914-1918.
It has taken over 100 years for this collection of letters to come to light. Discovered at a car boot sale by Robert Swan, they were passed to Hive storyteller John Caffrey, who has researched the men and their families. The letters give a unique insight into their thoughts and experiences.
