Hundreds of mayors, governors, and local leaders on the frontline of the climate crisis have descended on Rio de Janeiro for the COP30 Local Leaders Forum this week ahead of the main summit next week.

Among them is Hobart's Lord Mayor, who was the only Australian leader invited to co-chair the forum alongside London's Mayor Sadiq Khan and California Governor Gavin Newsom
