  • Hobby Time: Data Deep Dive - Set-to-Set, Year-to-Year, Base-to-Parallel

Episode 9 is all about creating a price expectation for some highly liquid basketball cards and grades.  I compare prices of Prizm Base, Prizm Silver, Optic Base, and Optic Holos across 4 years, and 3 grades (PSA 10, PSA 9, Raw) to develop (1) a few simple rules of thumb -- beginning of episode, and (2) a formula to estimate the expected price of some of these cards and finally (3) use this expected price to compare to actual comps to find undervalued and overvalued cards.

I'm excited for this episode, this is the kind of stuff I love to do. In future episodes, I plan to use a similar process to estimate the volume of unnumbered parallels, and even to rank players against each other in terms of their overall market and maybe even compare that to my own collectability rankings.

I hope you all enjoy it, please please send any feedback you've got for me, my contact info can be heard in the first minute! Thank you all so much, I really enjoy doing this and learning a new skill, and I hope everyone finds it as interesting as I do.  Cheers!

  • Hobby Time: My Activity and Part 1 of Reviewing Non-Rookies, Non-Stars

Thanks everyone for checking this out! Today I started by sharing some of the Basketball Card things I've been up to including some buys, some beats, and taking my nephew to the Dallas Card Show. Then I go through some of the 190+ players I reviewed that are not rookies, and have not made an all-star or all-nba team to figure out who I might be interested in.  In today's episode I talk about the "no thanks" or the "wait-and-see" guys, in part 2 I'll go through the guys I'm really interested in.

Thanks as always for listening, I really appreciate all of you, please contact me if you've got any feedback, anything you'd like to hear etc. You can hear my contact info in the first minute of the podcast.

  • Hold This L e1 - My Approach to Virtual Basketball Associate (VBA) buying and selling

In this episode I talk about the Solana-based NFT experience, Virtual Basketball Association or VBA (@vbagame). I share some of the data I’ve pulled, talk about what I see as micro and macro level factors affecting short and medium term pricing and my approach to buying and selling. This episode is a bit less structured than others, partially by necessity, but I try to use publicly released information and my own research to inform my decision making. This is not financial advice, please do your own research, and I welcome any of your thoughts on how I can iterate my own research or better connect some of the dots. Thank you for listening, and as always feel free to reach out on Twitter and Email to chat more
