The Max Foundation, created to honor Max Marvin who at age 19 died by suicide on Dec. 29, 2018, operates with a mission “to raise funds with the intent to support charitable programs, projects, and activities that facilitate mental wellness amongst the youth in the Warroad area.”

Tom Chorske (@hockeylogic) is a retired American hockey player who played eleven seasons in the NHL, winning a Stanley Cup with the New Jersey Devils in 1995. He went to high school at Minneapolis Southwest High School, and was named Mr. Hockey as the states most outstanding high school hockey player in 1985.

Chorske retired from hockey in 2002 and returned to the University of Minnesota to complete his undergraduate degree. He is now a father to two high school hockey players, and works as an analyst for Fox Sports North covering the Minnesota Wild and University of Minnesota Golden Gopher NCAA hockey games.

David La Vaque is a reporter for the Star Tribune and has been the newspaper’s point person for high school hockey since 2010. He has covered the state tournament in its entirety each year, writing enterprise pieces on the sport and selecting the paper’s All-Metro teams and Metro Player of the Year.

L. R. Nelson is an author, freelance journalist, and photographer and the founder and president of LegacyHockey.net, Minnesota’s number one resource for high school hockey’s past, present, and future.

Levine grew up in Bloomington, MN and played high school hockey and ran the 100 meter sprint in track & field. After high school, Josh played one year in the United States Hockey League (USHL) for the Green Bay Gamblers. Josh then attended Princeton University where he earned a degree in International and Public Affairs with a certificate in Near Eastern Studies.

Jamie Baker (@Bakes_Jamie13) is a Canadian former ice hockey player who was selected by the Quebec Nordiques in the 1988 NHL Supplemental Draft. Following an outstanding college career with the St. Lawrence University Skating Saints, Baker went on to play in parts of 10 NHL seasons.

In 2018, Jamie's lifelong-battle with depression came to a head and he nearly took his own life. After seeking treatment and beginning to live a much happier, and healthier life, Jame has made it a mission of his to de-stigmatize mental illness in sports and make sure everyone is able to obtain the help & support they need.

In this episode, Mark opens up about his battle with clinical depression he has faced during his life, and how it has played a role in his life inside the world of hockey.
