The general public may not be aware but Lakes Area anglers and conservationists certainly are aware of the outstanding trout fishing opportunity in Becker And Hubbard Counties. The MN DNR is taking steps to preserve brown trout habitat on the Straight River in Becker and Hubbard Counties. KDLM's Carol McCarthy shares a few more details from a presentation given by DNR Hubbard County Fisheries manager Doug Kingsly at a recent Becker County Board of Commissioner's meeting. 

Giving Hearts Day is February 13th. Alyssa Hoskins from the Boys and Girls Club of Detroit Lakes popped in to talk about the Detroit Lakes Collaborative participating in the 24-hour online fundraising event. Polar Fest is in full swing and Detroit Lakes Noon Rotarians host the Polar-ific Spaghetti Dinner Tuesday, February 11th. Rotarians Brad Green, Marty Waller and Crystal Piekarski invite everyone out for a delicious meal. 

You can say most public buildings, roads and trails in Detroit Lakes have had a Green stamp of approval.  That's Brad Green's stamp. Green retires from his duties as Detroit Lakes Public Works Director today (Friday) after 13 years with the city and about 17 with Detroit Lakes School District.
