Deuteronomio 8: El propósito de los momentos duros.

Deuteronomio 8:1‭-‬6 RVA2015:
“Cuidarán de poner por obra todo mandamiento que yo les mando hoy, para que vivan y sean multiplicados, y para que entren y tomen posesión de la tierra que el SEÑOR juró dar a sus padres. “Acuérdate de todo el camino por donde te ha conducido el SEÑOR tu Dios estos cuarenta años por el desierto, con el fin de humillarte y probarte, para saber lo que estaba en tu corazón, y si guardarías sus mandamientos o no. “Él te humilló y te hizo sufrir hambre, pero te sustentó con maná, comida que tú no conocías ni tus padres habían conocido jamás. Lo hizo para enseñarte que no solo de pan vivirá el hombre, sino que el hombre vivirá de toda palabra que sale de la boca del SEÑOR. “Tu vestido nunca se ha envejecido sobre ti, ni tu pie se te ha hinchado en estos cuarenta años. Reconoce, pues, en tu corazón, que como un hombre corrige a su hijo, así te corrige el SEÑOR tu Dios. Guardarás los mandamientos del SEÑOR tu Dios, andando en sus caminos y teniendo temor de él.

Este también es un capítulo muy importante porque es acerca de los procesos en el que Dios permite que pasen con sus hijos, aquellos que Él ha llamado y escogido.
Aquí vemos la parte donde Moisés le recordaba al pueblo de Israel la importancia de obedecer los mandamientos de Dios y seguir sus ordenanzas.
En los primeros versos podemos ver los eventos fortuitos que Israel tuvo que sufrir. Momentos de hambre y de sed, pero era con el propósito de formar el carácter del pueblo.
Al sentir hambre se dieron cuenta que había otra clase de alimento necesario y era la Palabra de Dios que llena el alma.
Cuando tuvieron sed se dieron cuenta que el alma también necesita de agua, que es el Espíritu de Dios en medio de ellos. Así como el Espíritu de Dios entró en una roca para producir agua, ¡imagínate lo que Dios puede hacer contigo y conmigo cuando entra a nuestras vidas!
¡El pueblo de Israel tuvo que caminar miles de kilómetros, y sus zapatos y ropa no se desgastaron! Eso les enseñó que ellos tienen un Padre que los ama.

Esto nos muestra que Dios no les evitó pasar por las circunstancias arduas, por los momentos difíciles. Dios usó esas experiencias para quebrantar ese corazón duro, saturado de miedo, conformismo e incredulidad para formar en ellos un carácter firme, un corazón sensible y temeroso de Dios; y llenar su alma de fe y esperanza.
Así que, miremos más allá de la aflicción. No miremos el proceso sino el resultado. Desarrollemos una dependencia plena en nuestro Señor, renunciando a nuestra tendencia humana de confiar en nuestras capacidades, en nuestros recursos, en nuestra propia opinión. No nos enfoquemos más en el "por qué" de las cosas sino en el "para qué" de las cosas. Preparémonos para aprender la lección de fe y "aprobar el examen" después de haber pasado por alguna tormenta, especialmente si Dios está con nosotros.
Si estás viviendo algo difícil y no lo entiendes, es el momento perfecto para venir ante los pies de Jesús y aferrarte a Él hasta que puedas escuchar su voz y comenzar a ver su mano poderosa actuando a tu favor; pues está claro el motivo de las pruebas, para que no seamos arrogantes cuando somos bendecidos y prosperados, y para ver la mano de Dios bendiciendonos al final de la prueba.
Como dice en los versos 16 al 18: "Él es quien te sustentó en el desierto con maná, comida que no habían conocido tus padres, con el propósito de humillarte y probarte para al final hacerte bien. No sea que digas en tu corazón: ‘Mi fuerza y el poder de mi mano me han traído esta prosperidad’. Al contrario, acuérdate del SEÑOR tu Dios. Él es el que te da poder para hacer riquezas, con el fin de confirmar su pacto que juró a tus padres, como en este día."

Así que no temas ni desmayes porque el Señor tu Dios estará contigo donde quiera que vayas, sean desiertos, tempestades, pozos o cualquier adversidad.

Deuteronomy 8: The purpose of the hard times.

Deuteronomy 8:1-6:
“Every commandment which I command you today you must be careful to observe, that you may live and multiply, and go in and possess the land of which the Lord swore to your fathers. And you shall remember that the Lord your God led you all the way these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you and test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not. So He humbled you, allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna which you did not know nor did your fathers know, that He might make you know that man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord. Your garments did not wear out on you, nor did your foot swell these forty years. You should know in your heart that as a man chastens his son, so the Lord your God chastens you.
“Therefore you shall keep the commandments of the Lord your God, to walk in His ways and to fear Him.

This is also a very important chapter because it is about the processes that God allows to go through with His children, those He has called and chosen.
Here we see the part where Moses reminded the people of Israel of the importance of obeying God's commandments and following His ordinances.
In the first verses we can see the fortuitous events that Israel had to suffer. Moments of hunger and thirst, but it was for the purpose of forming the character of the people.
Feeling hungry they realized that there was another kind of food needed and it was the Word of God that fills the soul.
When they were thirsty they realized that the soul also needs water, which is the Spirit of God in their midst. Just like the Spirit of God entered a rock to produce water, imagine what God can do with you and me when He enters in our lives!
The people of Israel had to walk thousands of miles, and their shoes and clothes did not wear out! That taught them that they have a Father who loves them.

This shows us that God did not prevent them from going through difficult circumstances, through difficult times. God used those experiences to break that hard heart, saturated with fear, conformism and unbelief to form in them a firm character, a sensitive and God-fearing heart; and fill their soul with faith and hope.
So let's look beyond the affliction. Let's not look at the process but the result. Let's develop a full dependence on our Lord, giving up our human tendency to trust in our abilities, in our resources, in our own opinion. Let's not focus more on the "why" of things but on the "what for" of things. Let's prepare to learn the lesson of faith and "pass the test" after we have been through some storm, especially if God is with us.
If you are experiencing something difficult and you do not understand it, it is the perfect time to come before the feet of Jesus and cling to Him until you can hear His voice and begin to see His powerful hand acting in your favor; because the reason for the tests is clear, so that we are not arrogant when we are blessed and prosperous, and to see the hand of God blessing us at the end of the test.
As it says in verses 16 to 18: “... who fed you in the wilderness with manna, which your fathers did not know, that He might humble you and that He might test you, to do you good in the end— then you say in your heart, ‘My power and the might of my hand have gained me this wealth.’ “And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.”

So do not be afraid or dismayed because the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go, be they deserts, storms, wells or any adversity.

Deuteronomio 7: La victorias espirituales son graduales.

Deuteronomio 7:21‭-‬26 RVA2015:
No desmayes ante ellos, porque el SEÑOR tu Dios está en medio de ti, Dios grande y temible. “El SEÑOR tu Dios expulsará estas naciones de delante de ti, poco a poco. No podrás exterminarlas de inmediato, no sea que los animales del campo se multipliquen contra ti. El SEÑOR tu Dios las entregará delante de ti; él las someterá a gran turbación, hasta destruirlas. Él entregará a sus reyes en tu mano, y tú destruirás sus nombres de debajo del cielo. Nadie te podrá resistir, hasta que los destruyas. “Quemarás en el fuego las imágenes de sus dioses. No codiciarás la plata y el oro que estén sobre ellas ni los tomarás para ti, para que no caigas en la trampa por ello. Esto es abominación al SEÑOR tu Dios. No meterás en tu casa ninguna cosa abominable, para que no seas anatema juntamente con ella. La detestarás del todo y la abominarás, porque es anatema.

En este capítulo podemos ver más promesas de Dios para el pueblo de Israel. Entre los mandamientos y preceptos que Dios le daba al pueblo Israel para que celebraran fiestas solemnes o tuvieran un comportamiento específico dentro del pueblo, también estaba escrito y profetizado por Dios todas las cosas que ellos alcanzarán si guardan la ley de Dios.
Una de esas promesas grandes es que Dios les iba a entregar en sus manos a los enemigos y que iban a conquistar muchos reinos poderosos.

Aquí encontramos la razón por la cual Dios no permitió que ellos vencieran a los enemigos en un instante, pudiendo Dios exterminar a esos pueblos de un solo golpe.
Como Dios es soberano, Él sabía que sí expulsaba a los habitantes de las tierras al instante, los animales salvajes iban a tomar posesión de la tierra abandonada o inhabitada, y sería muy peligroso para los israelitas convivir en tierras llenas de fieras salvajes.
Por eso ellos debían conquistar estas tierras gradualmente, poco a poco ir ganando batalla por batalla, conquistando gradualmente esas tierras hasta que al final ganar la guerra totalmente.

Esta es una lección que Dios nos da para que podamos entender que Él obra en nosotros por etapas, enseñándonos poco a poco sus caminos y sus propósitos en nuestras vidas por medio de las pruebas y las luchas.
Es en las pruebas donde aprendemos a ejercitar nuestra fe, a clamar a Dios, a confiar en sus promesas. Es en los momentos difíciles donde nos hacemos fuertes y donde crecemos en el conocimiento de la Palabra de Dios.
Por eso Dios no nos da victorias instantáneas sino graduales, donde vamos madurando a través del paso del tiempo.
Es por eso que la Biblia dice que la luz del justo es como la luz del amanecer, que va de aumento en aumento, poco a poco hasta que el día es perfecto.
Dios no nos pide perfeccionismo sino que nos pide perseverancia, que vayamos avanzando paso a paso sin mirar atrás.
Debemos confiar que Él tiene el control de las circunstancias y que la victoria está concedida hace tiempo para nosotros, solo que debemos ser pacientes.
Recuerda que la Palabra de Dios dice que somos más que vencedores por medio de Aquel que nos amó, y que nada ni nadie nos podrá separar del amor de Dios. Esto se encuentra en Romanos 8:37-39: “Más bien, en todas estas cosas somos más que vencedores por medio de aquel que nos amó. Por lo cual estoy convencido de que ni la muerte ni la vida ni ángeles ni principados ni lo presente ni lo porvenir ni poderes ni lo alto ni lo profundo ni ninguna otra cosa creada nos podrá separar del amor de Dios, que es en Cristo Jesús, Señor nuestro.”

Deuteronomy 7: Spiritual victories are gradual.

Deuteronomy 7:21-26:
You shall not be terrified of them; for the Lord your God, the great and awesome God, is among you. And the Lord your God will drive out those nations before you little by little; you will be unable to destroy them at once, lest the beasts of the field become too numerous for you. But the Lord your God will deliver them over to you, and will inflict defeat upon them until they are destroyed. And He will deliver their kings into your hand, and you will destroy their name from under heaven; no one shall be able to stand against you until you have destroyed them. You shall burn the carved images of their gods with fire; you shall not covet the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it for yourselves, lest you be snared by it; for it is an abomination to the Lord your God. Nor shall you bring an abomination into your house, lest you be doomed to destruction like it. You shall utterly detest it and utterly abhor it, for it is an accursed thing.

In this chapter we can see more promises of God for the people of Israel. Among the commandments and precepts that God gave to the people of Israel to celebrate solemn festivals or have a specific behavior within the people, God also wrote and prophesied all the things that they will achieve if they keep God's law.
One of those great promises is that God was going to deliver their enemies into their hands and that they were going to conquer many powerful kingdoms.

Here we find the reason why God did not allow them to defeat the enemies in an instant, since God could exterminate those peoples with a single blow.
Since God is sovereign, He knew that if He expelled the inhabitants of the land instantly, the wild animals would take possession of the abandoned or uninhabited land, and it would be very dangerous for the Israelites to live in lands full of wild beasts.
That is why they had to conquer these lands gradually, little by little winning battle by battle, gradually conquering these lands until finally winning the war totally.

This is a lesson that God gives us so that we can understand that He works in us in stages, gradually teaching us His ways and His purposes in our lives through trials and struggles.
It is in trials where we learn to exercise our faith, to cry out to God, to trust in His promises. It is in difficult times where we become strong and where we grow in the knowledge of the Word of God.
That is why God does not give us instant victories but gradual ones, where we mature through the passage of time.
That is why the Bible says that the light of the righteous is like the light of dawn, which goes from rising to rising, little by little until the day is perfect.
God does not ask us for perfectionism but asks us to persevere, to go forward step by step without looking back.
We must trust that He is in control of circumstances and that victory has long been granted to us, we just have to be patient.
Remember that the Word of God says that we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us, and that nothing and no one can separate us from the love of God. This is found in Romans 8:37-39: “Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Deuteronomio 6: Cómo transmitir la fe en nuestros hijos.

Deuteronomio 6:5‭-‬12 RVA2015:
Y amarás al SEÑOR tu Dios con todo tu corazón, con toda tu alma y con todas tus fuerzas. “Estas palabras que yo te mando estarán en tu corazón. Las repetirás a tus hijos y hablarás de ellas sentado en casa o andando por el camino, cuando te acuestes y cuando te levantes. Las atarás a tu mano como señal, y estarán como señal entre tus ojos. Las escribirás en los postes de tu casa y en las puertas de tus ciudades. “Sucederá que cuando el SEÑOR tu Dios te haya introducido en la tierra que juró a tus padres Abraham, Isaac y Jacob que te daría, con ciudades grandes y buenas que tú no edificaste, con casas llenas de todo bien que tú no llenaste, con cisternas cavadas que tú no cavaste, con viñas y olivares que tú no plantaste, y cuando hayas comido y te hayas saciado, entonces ten cuidado; no sea que te olvides del SEÑOR que te sacó de la tierra de Egipto, de la casa de esclavitud.

Este capítulo es muy valioso porque aprendemos acerca de la importancia de impartir la Palabra de Dios a nuestros hijos y transmitirles nuestra fe.
Así como un padre prepara a su hijo para tomar las riendas de la empresa que algún día va a heredar, de la misma manera debemos compartir el conocimiento que tenemos de Dios a nuestros hijos.
Un error que cometemos como padres es que asumimos que nuestros hijos automáticamente van a adquirir nuestras creencias, solo porque los llevamos los domingos a la iglesia o tienen amigos cristianos. La realidad es que como padres tenemos una gran responsabilidad para que ellos conozcan a nuestro Dios vivo, santo y poderoso.
La estrategia que Dios le enseñó al pueblo de Israel acerca de la enseñanza a los hijos es la consistencia. Los israelitas debían hablar de Dios en las mañanas dentro de la casa antes de salir o cuando llegaban a la casa. Ellos debían tener escrituras dentro de la casa, y también antes de acostarse debían reflexionar acerca de los mandamientos de Dios.

Pienso que esta tarea no se debe hacer de forma litúrgica o con imposición forzosa.
Debemos incorporar los consejos de la Palabra de Dios a nuestro diario vivir. No mentir, no estafar, no tener una actitud altiva y orgullosa, perdonar al hermano, y no hacerle mal a nadie son ejemplos de actitudes que debe tener alguien que es temeroso de Dios, que ama a Dios.
Es el diario vivir donde vemos cómo la Palabra de Dios está incluida. Y es que la Palabra de Dios no es un libro lleno de rituales solamente, sino una guía para que el ser humano pueda convivir de forma justa con el prójimo y con indicaciones prácticas para vivir en la tierra como a Dios le agrada.

El propósito no es presentar la Palabra de Dios a nuestros hijos como algo cargoso, fastidioso y aburrido. Más bien, que adopten la Palabra de Dios en sus vidas como una herramienta necesaria para tener vidas bendecidas y prósperas. Que miren la Palabra de Dios como si fuera un salvavidas en medio de un naufragio; que vean la Palabra de Dios como la fuente de la prudencia, el conocimiento y la sabiduría; que puedan entender que la Palabra de Dios les ayudará a formar su carácter, a desarrollar sentido común y dominio propio.
En pocas palabras, que amen la Palabra de Dios y la atesoren en su corazón. Así podremos celebrar y entender que ellos van a seguir los caminos del Señor y no se apartarán de Él cuando crezcan. Aun cuando uno de ellos se desvíe, tomando caminos equivocados en su juventud, todo lo que aprendió de la Palabra de Dios en la niñez lo irá acercando una vez más a los pies del Señor.
Así que escoge algunos versos bíblicos y comienza animar a tus hijos para que los aprendan de memoria; compra pósters de versos bíblicos en una librería cristiana para que los pongas en algún lugar de tu casa, o hasta ellos mismos los pueden elaborar o imprimirlos en casa.
No olvides los devocionales por lo menos una vez a la semana con toda la familia, compartiendo canciones, oraciones y una corta reflexión de la Palabra de Dios.
Háganlo ameno y con un ambiente de alegría, para que sea un momento memorable y deseen hacer el devocional la próxima vez. Oren unos por otros, y que los hijos puedan acercarse a sus padres para pedir consejo cuando estén pasando por un momento de necesidad.

Deuteronomy 6: How to transmit faith to our children.

Deuteronomy 6:5-12:
You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.
“And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
“So it shall be, when the Lord your God brings you into the land of which He swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give you large and beautiful cities which you did not build, houses full of all good things, which you did not fill, hewn-out wells which you did not dig, vineyards and olive trees which you did not plant—when you have eaten and are full— then beware, lest you forget the Lord who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.

This chapter is very valuable because we learn about the importance of imparting the Word of God to our children and transmitting our faith to them.
Just as a father prepares his son to take the reins of the company that he will inherit one day, in the same way we must share the knowledge we have of God with our children.
One mistake we make as parents is that we assume our children will automatically acquire our beliefs, just because we take them to church on Sundays or they have Christian friends.The reality is that as parents we have a great responsibility for them to know our living, holy and powerful God.
The strategy that God taught the people of Israel about teaching children is consistency. The Israelites were to talk about God in the morning inside the house before leaving or when they arrived home. They had to have scriptures inside the house, and also before going to bed they had to reflect on the commandments of God.

I think that this task should not be done in a liturgical way or with forced imposition.
We must incorporate the advice of the Word of God into our daily lives. Do not lie, do not cheat, do not have a haughty and proud attitude, forgive your brother and sister, and do not harm anyone are examples of attitudes that someone who fears God, who loves God, should have.
It is the daily life where we see how the Word of God is included. And it is that the Word of God is not a book full of rituals only, but a guide so that the human being can live in a fair way with his neighbor and with practical indications to live on earth as God pleases.

The purpose is not to present the Word of God to our children as something burdensome, annoying and boring. Rather, they embrace the Word of God in their lives as a necessary tool for blessed and prosperous lives. That they see at the Word of God as if it were a life preserver in the middle of a shipwreck; that they see the Word of God as the source of prudence, knowledge and wisdom; that they can understand that the Word of God will help them to form their character, to develop common sense and self-control.
In a few words, that they love the Word of God and treasure it in their heart. In this way we can celebrate and understand that they will follow the ways of the Lord and will not depart from Him when they grow up. Even when one of them goes astray, taking wrong paths in his youth, everything he learned from the Word of God in childhood will bring him closer once again to the feet of the Lord.
So pick some Bible verses and start encouraging your children to memorize them; buy Bible verse posters from a Christian bookstore to put somewhere in your home, or they can even make or print them at home.
Don't forget devotionals at least once a week with the whole family, sharing songs, prayers, and a short reflection from God's Word.
Make it pleasant and with an atmosphere of joy, so that it is a memorable moment and you want to do the devotional next time. Pray for one another, and that children may turn to their parents for advice when they are in a time of need.

Deuteronomio 5: Conociendo el temor de Dios.

Deuteronomio 5:23-31:
“Aconteció que cuando oyeron la voz de en medio de las tinieblas, mientras el monte ardía en fuego, se acercaron a mí todos los jefes de sus tribus y sus ancianos. Entonces dijeron: ‘He aquí , el SEÑOR nuestro Dios nos ha mostrado su gloria y su grandeza, y hemos oído su voz de en medio del fuego. En este día hemos visto que Dios habla al hombre, y que este puede quedar vivo. Pero, ¿por qué hemos de morir, ya que este gran fuego nos consumirá? Si volvemos a oír la voz del SEÑOR nuestro Dios, moriremos. Porque, ¿quién es el ser humano para que oiga, como nosotros, la voz del Dios vivo que habla de en medio del fuego, y aún viva? Acércate tú, y escucha todo lo que dice el SEÑOR nuestro Dios. Luego tú nos dirás todo lo que el SEÑOR nuestro Dios te haya dicho, y nosotros lo escucharemos y lo pondremos por obra’.
“El SEÑOR oyó las palabras de ustedes cuando me hablaban, y me dijo: ‘He oído las palabras que te ha hablado este pueblo. Está bien todo lo que han dicho. ¡Oh, si tuvieran tal corazón que me temieran y guardaran todos mis mandamientos todos los días, para que les fuera bien a ellos y a sus hijos para siempre! Ve y diles: Vuelvan a sus tiendas. Pero tú, quédate aquí conmigo. Yo te diré todos los mandamientos, las leyes y los decretos que les has de enseñar, para que los pongan por obra en la tierra que les doy para que tomen posesión de ella’.

Este es un capítulo muy importante. En la primera parte del capítulo podemos ver cómo Moises procedió a explicarles a la segunda generación el día en que sus padres recibieron los diez mandamientos.
Fue un momento muy solemne donde Dios preparó al pueblo para manifestarse visiblemente ante ellos y les iba a hablar. Ellos tuvieron que estar en ayuno, oración y absteniéndose de relaciones íntimas por tres días, dedicados especialmente para este tiempo donde por primera vez Dios se iba a dirigir directamente a ellos para darles los mandamientos y preceptos.
Cuando llegó el momento esperado, ¡ellos comenzaron a ver la gloria de Dios descender sobre el monte Sinaí en forma de fuego, truenos, relámpagos y sonido fuerte de trompeta! Pienso que ellos vieron al monte convertirse en algo parecido a un volcán.
Moisés describió ese momento majestuoso, esperado por el pueblo con alegría, y que se convirtió en un momento terrorífico, espantoso para el pueblo.
El sonido de la voz de Dios que se semejaba a truenos y trompetas sonando con estruendo, produjo en el pueblo una nueva experiencia con Dios. Después de haber visto la mano de Dios vencer a sus enemigos, de haberlos sacado con mano poderosa de la esclavitud, de haberles mostrado su amor y dedicacion a ellos pasandolos por el Mar Rojo, ahora estaban temblando al escuchar directamente la voz del Señor.
Ellos sabían del gran privilegio que era tener a Dios en medio de ellos y de que Dios mismo les hablara, pero ellos debían entender que Dios es un Dios vivo, que se indigna del pecado, que se enoja con el que lo ofende con actos de rebeldía, y que ningún ser humano podía burlarse de sus mandamientos sin sufrir las consecuencias de sus actos.
Ellos entendieron que Dios es un Dios tan santo, misericordioso y sublime pero que no soporta la impureza y la maldad. Que si Dios encontraba alguna clase de maldad en el pueblo, Dios iba a apartarse de ellos y sentirían lo que era estar lejos de Dios.

Este temor que ellos experimentaron era necesario para que sus corazones estuvieran firmes, y cumplir con los mandamientos de Dios y no perder las bendiciones preparadas para ellos. Ellos pidieron a Moisés que él fuera su interlocutor, el intermediario entre Dios y el pueblo. Habían visto que no era una tarea fácil presentarse puros delante de Dios. Ellos preferían que Dios hablara a Moisés, pues reconocían la disciplina de su Dios estricto.
En pocas palabras, conocieron las dos facetas de Dios. Dios es amor pero también fuego consumidor, que bendice en abundancia al que es fiel pero castiga al rebelde.
Dios se agradó de esa actitud de reverencia de respeto, de admiración, y de honra que ellos mostraron al ver la gloria de Dios. El mismo Dios expresó que Él desea que ellos mantengan ese corazón sumiso para que nunca se aparten de sus caminos y recibieran la prosperidad de sus vidas.
Recordemos que el corazón del hombre está inclinado a hacer el mal pero si en su corazón existe el temor de Dios, entonces esa persona va para recordar las cosas que agradan y desagradan a Dios. Esa persona va vivir para agradar a Dios, pues vivir sin su gracia y sin su misericordia es la tragedia más grande que el ser humano pueda vivir.

Desarrollaremos ese temor de Dios. No solamente hay que desarrollar un conocimiento claro de que Dios existe, de que Dios es amoroso, de que Dios perdona y bendice en gran manera, pero también de un Dios que no puede derramar sus bendiciones sobre aquel que juega con sus mandamientos y que vive una vida desordenada, especialmente aquellos que ya han tenido un encuentro con Dios y que tienen claro que Jesucristo es Dios.
Sigamos el ejemplo que encontramos en Hebreos 2:3-4: “... ¿cómo escaparemos nosotros si descuidamos una salvación tan grande? Esta salvación, que al principio fue declarada por el Señor, nos fue confirmada por medio de los que oyeron, dando Dios testimonio juntamente con ellos con señales, maravillas, diversos hechos poderosos y dones repartidos por el Espíritu Santo según su voluntad.”

Deuteronomy 5: Knowing the fear of God.

Deuteronomy 5:23-31:

Don't forget to read the entire chapter.
This is a very important chapter. In the first part of the chapter we can see how Moses proceeded to explain to the second generation the day their parents received the Ten Commandments.
It was a very solemn moment where God prepared the people to manifest Himself visibly before them and He was going to speak to them. They had to fast, pray and abstain from intimate relationships for three days, dedicated especially to this time where for the first time God was going to address them directly to give them the commandments and precepts.
When the expected moment arrived, they began to see the glory of God descend on Mount Sinai in the form of fire, thunder, lightning and a loud trumpet sound! I think they saw the mountain become something like a volcano.
Moses described that majestic moment, awaited by the people with joy, and which became a terrifying moment, frightening for the people.
The sound of the voice of God that was similar to thunder and trumpets sounding with a roar, produced in the people a new experience with God. After having seen the hand of God defeat their enemies, having taken them out of slavery with a powerful hand, having shown their love and dedication to them by passing them through the Red Sea, now they were trembling when they heard the voice of the Lord directly.
They knew what a great privilege it was to have God in their midst and for God Himself to speak to them, but they had to understand that God is a living God, who is indignant with sin, who gets angry with those who offend him with acts of rebellion, and that no human being could mock His commandments without suffering the consequences of his actions.
They understood that God is such a holy, merciful and sublime God but that He does not support impurity and wickedness. That if God found any kind of evil in the people, God would turn away from them and they would feel what it was like to be away from God.

This fear that they experienced was necessary for their hearts to be firm, and to fulfill the commandments of God and not lose the blessings prepared for them. They asked Moses to be their interlocutor, the intermediary between God and the people. They had seen that it was not an easy task to appear pure before God. They preferred that God speak to Moses, as they recognized the discipline of their strict God.
In short, they knew the two facets of God. God is love but also consuming fire, which abundantly blesses those who are faithful but punishes the rebel.
God was pleased with that attitude of reverence, respect, admiration, and honor that they showed when they saw the glory of God. God Himself expressed that He wants them to keep that submissive heart so that they never stray from His ways and receive prosperity in their lives.
Let us remember that the heart of man is inclined to do evil but if in his heart there is the fear of God, then that person goes to remember the things that please and displease God. That person will live to please God, because living without His grace and without His mercy is the greatest tragedy that human beings can experience.

Let's develop that fear of God. It is not only necessary to develop a clear knowledge that God exists, that God is loving, that God forgives and blesses in a great way, but also of a God who cannot pour out His blessings on those who play with His commandments and who live a messy life, especially those who have already had an encounter with God and who are clear that Jesus Christ is God.
Let's follow the example found in Hebrews 2:3-4: “... how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him, God also bearing witness both with signs and wonders, with various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to His own will?”

Deuteronomio 4: ¡Un pueblo privilegiado!

Deuteronomio 4:4‭-‬13 RVA2015:
Pero ustedes, que fueron fieles al SEÑOR su Dios, todos están vivos hoy. “Miren, yo les he enseñado leyes y decretos, como el SEÑOR mi Dios me mandó, para que hagan así en medio de la tierra a la cual entrarán para tomar posesión de ella. Guárdenlos, pues, y pónganlos por obra, porque esto es su sabiduría y su inteligencia ante los ojos de los pueblos, los cuales al oír de todas estas leyes dirán: ‘¡Ciertamente esta gran nación es un pueblo sabio y entendido!’. Porque, ¿qué nación hay tan grande, que tenga dioses tan cerca de ella, así como lo está el SEÑOR nuestro Dios cada vez que lo invocamos? ¿Qué nación hay tan grande que tenga leyes y decretos tan justos como toda esta ley que yo pongo hoy delante de ustedes? Solamente guárdate y guarda diligentemente tu alma, no sea que te olvides de las cosas que tus ojos han visto, ni que se aparten de tu corazón durante todos los días de tu vida. Las enseñarás a tus hijos y a los hijos de tus hijos. “El día que estuviste delante del SEÑOR tu Dios en Horeb, el SEÑOR me dijo: ‘Reúneme al pueblo para que yo los haga oír mis palabras, las cuales aprenderán para temerme todos los días que vivan en la tierra, y para enseñarlas a sus hijos’. Y se acercaron y se reunieron al pie del monte. El monte ardía con fuego hasta el corazón de los cielos, con densas nubes y oscuridad. Entonces el SEÑOR les habló de en medio del fuego. Ustedes oyeron el sonido de sus palabras, pero aparte de oír su voz, no vieron ninguna imagen. Él les declaró su pacto, el cual les mandó poner por obra: Los Diez Mandamientos. Y los escribió en dos tablas de piedra.

Este es un capítulo lleno de lecciones y reflexiones que podemos tomar de la narración que Moisés continuó exponiendo a la nueva generación, acerca del recorrido que Dios ha estado llevando a Israel a través del desierto.
En esta ocasión podemos ver cómo él les contaba sobre el privilegio que ellos tienen como nación, el haber sido llamados y escogidos por Dios. El Señor los sacó de la esclavitud, los purificó y se manifestó a ellos de forma majestuosa sobre el monte Sinaí. En ese momento Dios les dio unas leyes justas para que ellos fueran un pueblo puro delante de Dios, y así Dios pudiera vivir en medio de ellos.
Me conmueve mucho cómo Moisés les decía a ellos sobre la admiración que otros pueblos tendrían por ellos, pues el mismo Dios estaría en medio de ellos, a diferencia de otras religiones.
Recordemos que en ese tiempo existían dioses poderosos como Baal, como Dagón y la diosa Asera. Eran dioses venerados solemnemente por los pueblos cananeos, pero estos dioses nunca se habían manifestado de forma visible y sobrenatural delante de ellos.
En cambio, el pueblo de Israel era protegido, acompañado y guiado por un Dios sobrenatural que abrió el Mar Rojo para que ellos cruzaran, les daba comida que caía desde el cielo, sus vestiduras no se desgastaban, y no sufrían los ataques de animales y reptiles peligrosos del desierto.
Los pueblos alrededor sabían que el Dios de Israel era un Dios que les daba sombra de día, calor de noche, y que les daba agua que brotaba de una roca.

¡De la misma manera nosotros tenemos un Dios que escucha! ¡Creemos en un Dios que se hizo hombre, se manifestó al mundo hace 2000 años, dio su vida por nosotros, llevó el pecado sobre sus hombros, y conquistó la muerte para poder darnos vida eterna! ¡También nos dio su Santo Espíritu para que fuéramos llenos de su poder, para que nuestras vidas sean transformadas y, además, para poder servir en Su Reino por medio de los dones espirituales que nos ha dado!

No caigamos en el error del pueblo de Israel, de la primera generación que no valoraron la presencia de Dios, teniendo un Dios tan cerca de ellos que aún así murmuraban y tentaban al Señor continuamente.
Nosotros que estamos ahora en el tiempo de la gracia, guardemos Su Palabra, guardemos la ley de Cristo y seamos cada día como Él. Si eres lleno continuamente del Espíritu de Dios, si lees las Escrituras y las pones en práctica, si te congregas continuamente en la casa de Dios y si estás sirviendo al Señor en algún área, ten la certeza que siempre tendrás de cerca a Dios saturando tu vida de Su poder, bendiciendo tu hogar, y continuamente verás la mano de Dios obrando poderosamente.
Si nos alejamos del Señor, de seguro que vamos a extrañar esa mano poderosa actuando a favor nuestro, el amor y la bendición de Dios, la paz de Jesucristo embargando nuestros corazones, la consolación y fortaleza que recibimos por medio de su Santo Espíritu en nosotros.
Recuerda que tienes al Señor Jesucristo de tu lado, y tienes acceso a Su presencia donde quiera que estés. Solamente tienes que desarrollar esa comunión con Él, continuamente hablando con el Señor, sacando tiempo para meditar de sus favores y misericordias a favor de ti y tu familia, con una actitud de agradecimiento continuo y con un corazón abierto a ser guiado por el Señor.

Deuteronomy 4: A privileged people!

Deuteronomy 4:4-13:
But you who held fast to the Lord your God are alive today, every one of you.
“Surely I have taught you statutes and judgments, just as the Lord my God commanded me, that you should act according to them in the land which you go to possess. Therefore be careful to observe them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples who will hear all these statutes, and say, ‘Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.’
“For what great nation is there that has God so near to it, as the Lord our God is to us, for whatever reason we may call upon Him? And what great nation is there that has such statutes and righteous judgments as are in all this law which I set before you this day? Only take heed to yourself, and diligently keep yourself, lest you forget the things your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. And teach them to your children and your grandchildren, especially concerning the day you stood before the Lord your God in Horeb, when the Lord said to me, ‘Gather the people to Me, and I will let them hear My words, that they may learn to fear Me all the days they live on the earth, and that they may teach their children.’
“Then you came near and stood at the foot of the mountain, and the mountain burned with fire to the midst of heaven, with darkness, cloud, and thick darkness. And the Lord spoke to you out of the midst of the fire. You heard the sound of the words, but saw no form; you only heard a voice. So He declared to you His covenant which He commanded you to perform, the Ten Commandments; and He wrote them on two tablets of stone.

On this occasion we can see how he told them about the privilege they have as a nation, having been called and chosen by God. The Lord brought them out of slavery, purified them and manifested Himself to them in a majestic way on Mount Sinai. At that time, God gave them fair laws so that they would be a pure people before God, and thus God could live in their midst.
I am very moved by how Moses told them about the admiration that other peoples would have for them, because God Himself would be in their midst, unlike other religions.
Let us remember that at that time there were powerful gods like Baal, like Dagon and the goddess Asherah. They were gods solemnly worshiped by the Canaanite peoples, but these gods had never manifested themselves in a visible and supernatural way before them.
Instead, the people of Israel were protected, accompanied and guided by a supernatural God who opened the Red Sea for them to cross, gave them food that fell from the sky, their clothes did not wear out, and they did not suffer attacks from dangerous animals and reptiles of the desert.
The surrounding peoples knew that the God of Israel was a God who gave them shade by day, warmth at night, and who gave them water that flowed from a rock.

In the same way we have a God who listens! We believe in a God who became a man, manifested Himself to the world 2000 years ago, gave His life for us, carried sin on His shoulders, and conquered death in order to give us eternal life! He also gave us His Holy Spirit so that we might be filled with His power, so that our lives may be transformed and, moreover, to be able to serve in His Kingdom through the spiritual gifts He has given us!

Let us not fall into the error of the people of Israel, of the first generation who did not value the presence of God, having a God so close to them that even so they continually murmured and tempted the Lord.
We who are now in the time of grace, let us keep His Word, let us keep the law of Christ and be like Him every day. If you are continuously filled with the Spirit of God, if you read the Scriptures and put them into practice, if you continually congregate in the house of God and if you are serving the Lord in some area, be sure that you will always have God close by saturating your life with His power, blessing your home, and you will continuously see the hand of God working powerfully.
If we move away from the Lord, surely we will miss that powerful hand acting in our favor, the love and blessing of God, the peace of Jesus Christ seizing our hearts, the consolation and strength that we receive through His Holy Spirit in us.
Remember that you have the Lord Jesus Christ on your side, and you have access to His presence wherever you are. You just have to develop that communion with Him, continually talking to the Lord, taking time to meditate on His favors and mercies in favor of you and your family, with an attitude of continuous gratitude and with an open heart to be guided by the Lord.

Deuteronomio 3: Transmitiendo fortaleza y valor.

Deuteronomio 3:18‭-‬29 RVA2015:
“En aquel tiempo les mandé diciendo: ‘El SEÑOR su Dios les ha dado esta tierra para que tomen posesión de ella. Todos los valientes cruzarán armados delante de sus hermanos, los hijos de Israel. Solamente sus mujeres, sus niños y sus ganados (yo sé que tienen mucho ganado), se quedarán en las ciudades que les he dado, hasta que el SEÑOR dé reposo a sus hermanos, así como a ustedes, y ellos también tomen posesión de la tierra que el SEÑOR su Dios les da al otro lado del Jordán. Entonces volverán cada uno a la heredad que yo les he dado’.
“También en aquel tiempo mandé a Josué diciendo: ‘Tus ojos han visto todo lo que el SEÑOR tu Dios ha hecho a aquellos dos reyes. Así hará el SEÑOR a todos los reinos por los cuales tú pasarás. No les teman, porque el SEÑOR su Dios, él es el que combate por ustedes’.
“En aquel tiempo supliqué al SEÑOR, diciendo: ‘Oh SEÑOR Dios, tú has comenzado a mostrar a tu siervo tu grandeza y tu mano poderosa. Porque, ¿qué dios hay en los cielos o en la tierra que haga como tus obras y como tus proezas? Te ruego que yo también cruce y vea aquella buena tierra que está al otro lado del Jordán, aquella buena región montañosa y el Líbano’. “Pero el SEÑOR se había indignado contra mí por causa de ustedes y no me escuchó. El SEÑOR me dijo: ‘¡Basta! No me hables más de este asunto. Sube a la cumbre del Pisga y alza tus ojos hacia el oeste, el norte, el sur y el este, y mírala con tus ojos; porque tú no cruzarás este Jordán. Pero comisiona a Josué; fortalécelo e infúndele valor, porque él cruzará al frente de este pueblo y los hará tomar posesión de la tierra que tú verás’. “Así nos quedamos en el valle delante de Bet-peor.

El gran líder Moisés continuó narrando todos los eventos que sucedieron en el desierto.
En este capítulo vemos cómo ellos destruyeron las ciudades de los cananeos, incluyendo las ciudades donde su rey y sus habitantes eran gigantes; una raza de hombres que era de más altura de lo común y que infundía mucho miedo y temor.
Pero Dios le dijo a Moisés que no tuvieran miedo porque Dios ya había resuelto entregarlos en sus manos a todos esos reyes y sus ciudades.

Moisés obedeció a la orden del Señor y transmitió al pueblo valentía y fortaleza. Todos ellos se armaron de valor cuando Moisés los estaba afirmando; esta vez la nueva generación sí creyó que Dios podía ayudarlos para derrotar grandes ciudades con hombres más fuertes que ellos.
Más adelante vemos a Moisés suplicando al Señor que lo deje entrar a la tierra prometida; Dios había decidido no dejarlo porque Moisés no honró al Señor delante de los israelitas. Recuerda que Moisés se dejó llevar por las presiones de ellos, impulsándolo a errar grandemente ante Dios; actuó con prepotencia, con enojo y aspereza.
Dios había escogido a Josué como líder y ordenó a Moisés que lo nombre como líder delante del pueblo, y de forma especial le pidió que le infundiera a Josué fortaleza y valor.
Esas palabras son muy especiales, porque antes de que Moisés comenzara a liberar al pueblo de Israel de la esclavitud y pesadumbre de Egipto, era un hombre muy dudoso y temeroso. Moisés tenía momentos donde dudaba pero Dios continuamente lo afirmaba y con paciencia demostraba el poder que Moisés tenía por medio de la autoridad de Dios.
De la misma manera, Moisés debía orar por Josué, imponer sus manos sobre él para transmitir autoridad sobre Josué delante de Dios y delante del pueblo. También Moisés pasaría muchas horas hablando con Josué, enseñándole la forma en que Dios obraba y cómo podía tocar el corazón de Dios para que Dios escuche su oración. Posiblemente Moisés también le enseñó a Josué todos los errores que él mismo había cometido para que Josué no los repitiera y así ser un líder ejemplar y efectivo en medio del pueblo.

Espero que hoy podamos seguir el ejemplo de Moisés como líder para que nosotros también podamos transmitir fortaleza y valor a nuestra pareja y a nuestros hijos. Que sean personas que aprendan a actuar con determinación ante las circunstancias difíciles, gracias a nuestra influencia.
En tiempos de incertidumbre con tantos cambios geopolíticos y culturales, debemos de estar continuamente conectados con el Señor, y de esa manera poder transmitir palabras de sabiduría y afirmación a los miembros de nuestro hogar, pues Dios nos ha puesto sobre ellos y también ellos lo harán con su familia cuando crezcan.

En vez de transmitir momentos de tensión en el hogar por andar enojados y gritando todo el tiempo, dejándonos llevar por las frustraciones personales o problemas externos, inundando el ambiente de ansiedad e inseguridad, seamos agentes de paz, de calma, de seguridad. Que nuestra familia, amigos y parientes sepan que pueden encontrar en nosotros la afirmación y fortaleza que necesitan en tiempos difíciles, para que tengan la capacidad para soportar problemas y adversidades. Seamos esa columna de liderazgo y afirmación como lo fue Moisés.

Deuteronomy 3: Transmitting strength and courage.

Deuteronomy 3:21-29:
“And I commanded Joshua at that time, saying, ‘Your eyes have seen all that the Lord your God has done to these two kings; so will the Lord do to all the kingdoms through which you pass. You must not fear them, for the Lord your God Himself fights for you.’
“Then I pleaded with the Lord at that time, saying: ‘O Lord God, You have begun to show Your servant Your greatness and Your mighty hand, for what god is there in heaven or on earth who can do anything like Your works and Your mighty deeds? I pray, let me cross over and see the good land beyond the Jordan, those pleasant mountains, and Lebanon.’
“But the Lord was angry with me on your account, and would not listen to me. So the Lord said to me: ‘Enough of that! Speak no more to Me of this matter. Go up to the top of Pisgah, and lift your eyes toward the west, the north, the south, and the east; behold it with your eyes, for you shall not cross over this Jordan. But command Joshua, and encourage him and strengthen him; for he shall go over before this people, and he shall cause them to inherit the land which you will see.’
“So we stayed in the valley opposite Beth Peor.

The great leader Moses went on narrating all the events that happened in the desert.
In this chapter we see how they destroyed the cities of the Canaanites, including the cities where their king and inhabitants were giants; a race of men who were taller than usual and who instilled much fear and dread.
But God told Moses not to be afraid because God had already decided to deliver all those kings and their cities into their hands.

Moses obeyed the command of the Lord and transmitted courage and strength to the people. They all took courage when Moses was affirming them; this time the new generation did believe that God could help them defeat big cities with men stronger than them.
Later we see Moses pleading with the Lord to let him enter the promised land; God had decided not to leave him because Moses did not honor the Lord before the Israelites. Remember that Moses allowed himself to be carried away by their pressure, impelling him to err greatly before God; he acted with arrogance, with anger and harshness.
God had chosen Joshua as leader and ordered Moses to appoint him as leader before the people, and in a special way asked him to transmit to Joshua strength and courage.
Those words are very special, because before Moses began to free the people of Israel from the bondage and sorrow of Egypt, he was a very doubtful and fearful man. Moses had moments where he doubted but God continually affirmed him and patiently demonstrated the power that Moses had through God's authority.
In the same way, Moses was to pray for Joshua, lay his hands on him to convey authority over Joshua before God and before the people. Moses would also spend many hours talking to Joshua, teaching him how God worked and how he could touch God's heart so that God would hear his prayer. Possibly Moses also taught Joshua all the mistakes that he himself had made so that Joshua would not repeat them and thus be an exemplary and effective leader among the people.

I hope that today we can follow the example of Moses as a leader so that we too can transmit strength and courage to our partner and our children. That they be people who learn to act with determination in difficult circumstances, thanks to our influence.
In times of uncertainty with so many geopolitical and cultural changes, we must be continuously connected with the Lord, and in this way be able to transmit words of wisdom and affirmation to the members of our home, because God has placed us above them and they will also do it with their family when they grow up.

Instead of transmitting moments of tension in the home by being angry and shouting all the time, letting ourselves be carried away by personal frustrations or external problems, flooding the atmosphere with anxiety and insecurity, let us be agents of peace, of calm, of security. Let our family, friends and relatives know that they can find in us the affirmation and strength they need in difficult times, so that they have the capacity to endure problems and adversity. Let's be that column of leadership and affirmation like Moses was.
