Números 33: Cuídate de las malas influencias.

Números 33:50‭-‬56 RVA2015:
Entonces el SEÑOR habló a Moisés en las llanuras de Moab, junto al Jordán, frente a Jericó, diciendo: “Habla a los hijos de Israel y diles: ‘Cuando hayan cruzado el Jordán a la tierra de Canaán, echarán de su presencia a todos los habitantes de la tierra, destruirán todas sus esculturas, destruirán todas sus imágenes de fundición y devastarán todos sus lugares altos. Tomarán posesión de la tierra y habitarán en ella, porque a ustedes les he dado la tierra, para que la tengan en posesión. “‘Recibirán la tierra en heredad por sorteo según sus clanes. A los más numerosos darán una heredad más grande, a los menos numerosos darán una heredad más pequeña. Donde a uno le toque por sorteo, allí tendrá su posesión. Según las tribus de sus padres, la recibirán en heredad. “‘Pero si no echan de delante de ustedes a los habitantes de la tierra, sucederá que los que dejen de ellos serán como aguijones en sus ojos y espinas en sus costados, y los hostilizarán en la tierra que ustedes han de habitar. Y sucederá que les haré a ustedes lo que pensé hacerles a ellos’”.

Este es un capítulo donde en la primera parte leemos con detalles los lugares donde ellos acamparon durante su travesía por los desiertos y regiones.
La segunda parte es la que leímos. Dios ordena por medio de Moisés la destrucción de todas las ciudades y sus habitantes. Dios había ya dispuesto exterminar estos pueblos porque su maldad era tan grande que ya no había remedio para ellos. La tierra no aguantaba más maldad, pecado y desenfreno de los cananeos.
El juicio de Dios les llegó en la forma de un pueblo pequeño que vencía a todos los que venían contra ellos en el desierto; Israel era el instrumento en las manos de Dios para limpiar la tierra de los moradores malignos.
Pero la advertencia llegó a Israel. Si ellos no eliminaban estás naciones y las dejaban convivir con ellos, entonces sus costumbres diabólicas, sus estilos de vida pecaminosos y sus hábitos desenfrenados serían como una plaga que los iba a contaminar, los llevarían a inclinarse a prácticas abominables y así infligirles una herida mortal en el alma del pueblo. Israel caería de la gracia de Dios, perderían las bendiciones de Dios, ya no serían el pueblo escogido y santo del Dios viviente.

Más adelante vamos a ver cómo esta generación y sus hijos se mantuvieron fieles a los mandamientos del Señor, pero las generaciones venideras que ya estaban establecidas en la tierra prometida comenzaron a apartarse del Señor.
Esta es una gran lección para que nosotros evaluemos con quién nos asociamos, quiénes son nuestros amigos, quiénes son los que son de influencia en nuestras vidas. Qué clase de prácticas tienen ellos; si son prácticas que nos hacen mejores personas, dejan una buena impresión en nuestra vidas que nos inspiran a seguir adelante, que nos ayudan a restaurar y mantener la unidad entre los miembros del hogar, que me confrontan con sinceridad cuando estoy haciendo algo indebido, que me aconsejan con mansedumbre y me enseñan a caminar en el camino de la fe en Cristo.

Si ninguna de estas virtudes las ves en tus relaciones, deberías considerar seriamente con quiénes te relacionas. Ten cuidado de esas personas con las que te vas a relacionar en el lugar nuevo donde vas a vivir o en un nuevo lugar de trabajo, o en una nueva escuela. Busca personas con las que te identifiques, con valores y convicciones parecidas a las tuyas. No olvides el consejo del apóstol Pablo en 1 Corintios 15:33: "No se dejen engañar: “Las malas compañías corrompen las buenas costumbres”."
Si tienes parientes y amigos que no son creyentes, que ellos puedan ver claramente tus valores y principios, así respetarán tus decisiones y hasta puedan abrir sus corazones para recibir las buenas nuevas de salvación, que transforma hogares y fortalece las familias.

Numbers 33: Beware of bad influences.

Numbers 33:50-56:
Now the Lord spoke to Moses in the plains of Moab by the Jordan, across from Jericho, saying, “Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘When you have crossed the Jordan into the land of Canaan, then you shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you, destroy all their engraved stones, destroy all their molded images, and demolish all their high places; you shall dispossess the inhabitants of the land and dwell in it, for I have given you the land to possess. And you shall divide the land by lot as an inheritance among your families; to the larger you shall give a larger inheritance, and to the smaller you shall give a smaller inheritance; there everyone’s inheritance shall be whatever falls to him by lot. You shall inherit according to the tribes of your fathers. But if you do not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you, then it shall be that those whom you let remain shall be irritants in your eyes and thorns in your sides, and they shall harass you in the land where you dwell. Moreover it shall be that I will do to you as I thought to do to them.’ ”

This is a chapter where in the first part we read in detail the places where they camped during their journey through the deserts and regions.
The second part is the one we read. God orders through Moses the destruction of all cities and their inhabitants. God had already arranged to exterminate these peoples because their wickedness was so big that there was no remedy for them. The land could not stand any more wickedness, sin and debauchery of the Canaanites.
God's judgment came to them in the form of a small town that defeated all who came against them in the desert; Israel was the instrument in God's hands to cleanse the land of the evil denizens.
But the warning came to Israel. If they did not eliminate these nations and let them coexist with them, then their evil customs, their sinful lifestyles and their unbridled habits would be like a plague that would contaminate them, lead them to bow down to abominable practices and thus inflict them a deadly wound on the soul of the people. Israel would fall from God's grace, they would lose God's blessings, they would no longer be the chosen people and saints of the living God.

Later we will see how this generation and their children remained faithful to the commandments of the Lord, but the coming generations that were already established in the promised land began to drift away from the Lord.
This is a great lesson for us to evaluate who we associate with, who are our friends, who are the influencers in our lives. What kind of practices do they have; if they are practices that make us better people, leave a good impression on our lives, inspire us to move forward, help us restore and maintain unity among household members, honestly confront me when I am doing something wrong, they advise me with meekness and teach me to walk in the path of faith in Christ.

If you don't see any of these virtues in your relationships, you should seriously consider who you associate with. Be careful of those people with whom you are going to associate in the new place where you are going to live or in a new workplace, or in a new school. Look for people with whom you identify, with values ​​and convictions similar to yours. Don't forget the apostle Paul's advice in 1 Corinthians 15:33: "Do not be deceived: “Evil company corrupts good habits.”"
If you have relatives and friends who are not believers, they can clearly see your values ​​and principles, so they will respect your decisions and even open their hearts to receive the good news of salvation, which transforms homes and strengthens families.

Números 32: ¿Aprendieron o no la lección?

Números 32:5-15:
Por eso —dijeron—, si hemos hallado gracia ante tus ojos, sea dada esta tierra a tus siervos como posesión; no nos hagas cruzar el Jordán.
Pero Moisés respondió a los hijos de Gad y a los hijos de Rubén: —¿Irán sus hermanos a la guerra y ustedes se quedarán aquí? ¿Por qué desalientan a los hijos de Israel, de modo que no crucen a la tierra que les ha dado el SEÑOR? Así hicieron sus padres cuando los envié desde Cades-barnea para que reconocieran la tierra. Fueron hasta el arroyo de Escol, y después que reconocieron la tierra desalentaron a los hijos de Israel para que no entraran en la tierra que el SEÑOR les había dado.
Entonces se encendió el furor del SEÑOR, y juró diciendo: “Los hombres que vinieron de Egipto, desde los veinte años para arriba, no verán la tierra de la cual juré a Abraham, a Isaac y a Jacob, porque no me siguieron con integridad; excepto Caleb hijo de Jefone el quenezeo y Josué hijo de Nun, quienes con integridad han seguido al SEÑOR”. El furor del SEÑOR se encendió contra Israel, y los hizo andar errantes cuarenta años por el desierto, hasta que pasó toda aquella generación que había hecho lo malo ante los ojos del SEÑOR. Y he aquí, ustedes han sucedido a sus padres, prole de hombres pecadores, para añadir más al ardor de la ira del SEÑOR contra Israel. Porque si dejan de ir en pos de él, él volverá otra vez a dejarlos en el desierto; y destruirán a todo este pueblo.

En este capítulo vemos a un grupo del pueblo de Israel pertenecientes de las tribus de Rubén y la media tribu de Manasés pidiéndole a Moisés que les dejé las tierras que ya habían conquistado. Tierras apropiadas para ellos que tenían mucho ganado.
La tierra que Dios le prometió a Israel era la que estaba pasando al otro lado del río Jordán; sin embargo, Dios también les permitió conquistar parte de la tierra antes del Jordán.

Esa petición puso nervioso a Moisés, pues pensó que ellos querían acomodarse en la tierra y no cumplir con la misión de conquistar la tierra prometida después del Jordán.
Moisés les recordó dos grandes detalles y, a la vez, nos enseña grandes lecciones.
Primero, la importancia de servir al Señor con integridad. El pueblo de la generación pasada siempre tuvo a Egipto en su corazón. Siempre anhelaron regresar y, además, tenían ídolos que cargaban en sus equipajes los cuales no les permitían ser fieles al Señor. Eso no es vivir en integridad.
Por otro lado, Josué y Caleb sí se mantuvieron fieles, creyendo al Señor en todo tiempo. Eso es ser alguien con integridad.

Segundo, Moisés quería saber si ellos habían aprendido la lección de las actitudes de sus antepasados. Sus progenitores fueron personas rebeldes al Señor y sufrieron las consecuencias de sus actos, divagando por el desierto por 40 años y sufriendo la destrucción de esa generación. Si ellos no cumplían con el mandato del Señor, entonces se volvería a repetir la historia en ellos cuando Dios los apartó de sus bendiciones, perdiendo el privilegio de pasar a la tierra prometida y más bien morir en el desierto.

Así que aprendamos de este momento tan importante para evitar vivir vidas sin integridad. También para entender la importancia de aplicar a nuestras vidas las lecciones aprendidas en momentos de adversidad y dificultades.
Muchas veces Dios quiere enseñarnos humildad, paciencia, mansedumbre y prudencia. No te enfoques en el problema en particular sino en la lección que Dios quiere enseñarte.

Al final de las palabras de exhortación de Moisés para estás tribus, ellos prometieron cumplir su promesa de pasar al otro lado del Jordán y conquistar la tierra para que sus hermanos también tuvieran su porción. Ellos eran conscientes de la gravedad de la desobediencia delante del Señor y la obediencia para aquellos que viven en integridad.

Numbers 32: Did you learn the lesson or not?

Numbers 32:5-15:
Therefore they said, “If we have found favor in your sight, let this land be given to your servants as a possession. Do not take us over the Jordan.”
And Moses said to the children of Gad and to the children of Reuben: “Shall your brethren go to war while you sit here? Now why will you discourage the heart of the children of Israel from going over into the land which the Lord has given them? Thus your fathers did when I sent them away from Kadesh Barnea to see the land. For when they went up to the Valley of Eshcol and saw the land, they discouraged the heart of the children of Israel, so that they did not go into the land which the Lord had given them. So the Lord’s anger was aroused on that day, and He swore an oath, saying, ‘Surely none of the men who came up from Egypt, from twenty years old and above, shall see the land of which I swore to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, because they have not wholly followed Me, except Caleb the son of Jephunneh, the Kenizzite, and Joshua the son of Nun, for they have wholly followed the Lord.’ So the Lord’s anger was aroused against Israel, and He made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation that had done evil in the sight of the Lord was gone. And look! You have risen in your fathers’ place, a brood of sinful men, to increase still more the fierce anger of the Lord against Israel. For if you turn away from following Him, He will once again leave them in the wilderness, and you will destroy all these people.”

Don't forget to read the entire chapter so you don't miss any of the details.

In this chapter we see a group of the people of Israel belonging to the tribes of Reuben and the half tribe of Manasseh asking Moses to leave them the lands they had already conquered. Lands suitable for them who had a lot of cattle.
The land that God promised Israel was the one that was passing on the other side of the Jordan River; however, God also allowed them to conquer part of the land before the Jordan.

That request made Moses nervous, because he thought that they wanted to settle in the land and not fulfill the mission of conquering the promised land after the Jordan.
Moses reminded them of two great details and, at the same time, he teaches us great lessons.
First, the importance of serving the Lord with integrity. The people of the past generation always had Egypt in their hearts. They always longed to return and, in addition, they had idols that they carried in their luggage which did not allow them to be faithful to the Lord. That is not living in integrity.
On the other hand, Joshua and Caleb did remain faithful, believing in the Lord at all times. That is being someone with integrity.

Second, Moses wanted to know if they had learned the lesson from the attitudes of their ancestors. His parents were rebellious people to the Lord and suffered the consequences of their actions, wandering in the desert for 40 years and suffering the destruction of that generation. If they did not comply with the Lord's mandate, then history would be repeated in them when God separated them from their blessings, losing the privilege of going to the promised land and rather dying in the desert.

So let's learn from this important moment to avoid living lives without integrity. Also to understand the importance of applying to our lives the lessons learned in times of adversity and difficulties.
Many times God wants to teach us humility, patience, meekness and prudence. Do not focus on the particular problem but on the lesson that God wants to teach you.

At the end of Moses' words of exhortation to these tribes, they promised to fulfill their promise to cross over the Jordan and conquer the land so that their brothers and sisters would also have their share. They were aware of the seriousness of disobedience before the Lord and obedience for those who live in integrity.

Números 31: Protección de Dios en tiempos de guerra.

Números 31:48-54:
Entonces se acercaron a Moisés los oficiales de los millares del ejército, los jefes de los millares y los jefes de las centenas, y dijeron a Moisés: —Tus siervos hemos pasado revista a los hombres de guerra que estuvieron bajo nuestro mando, y ninguno de nosotros falta. Por tanto, hemos traído una ofrenda al SEÑOR, cada uno de lo que ha hallado: objetos de oro, cadenillas, brazaletes, anillos, aretes y collares, para hacer expiación por nosotros mismos delante del SEÑOR.
Moisés y el sacerdote Eleazar recibieron de ellos el oro y todos los objetos elaborados. Todo el oro de la ofrenda alzada que ofrecieron al SEÑOR los jefes de los millares y los jefes de las centenas fue de ciento ochenta y cuatro kilos. Pues los hombres del ejército habían saqueado cada uno para sí.
Moisés y el sacerdote Eleazar recibieron el oro de los jefes de los millares y de los jefes de las centenas, y lo llevaron al tabernáculo de reunión, como recordatorio para los hijos de Israel delante del SEÑOR.

Este capítulo es muy impresionante por la forma en que describe los eventos que ocurrieron en la guerra. Y esa guerra fue muy significativa porque fue en contra de los madianitas.
Fue Dios mismo que les indicó a que pelearan contra ellos porque Dios quería castigarlos por la forma en que engañaron a los israelitas con sus ídolos y sus prácticas inmorales como lo vimos en el capítulo 25.

En esta guerra vemos curiosamente que Balaam vivía dentro de las ciudades de Madián. Es muy probable que después de haber creado ese plan diabólico para pervertir a Israel, haya tenido una posición dentro del reinado de los madianitas. Por eso Dios castigó a Balaam por haber perdido el temor a Dios y haberse ido tras los deleites del pecado.
Los madianitas eran una población muy grande. Se componía de cinco reyes. Cinco poblaciones con cinco ejércitos.
Como en todas las guerras, barrios de los soldados de los dos bandos no sobreviven; sin embargo, el Señor no permitió que ningún soldado israelita muriera de la mano de los madianitas. De forma milagrosa el Señor guarda a todos los soldados de Israel y ninguno de ellos perece en la guerra.
Los líderes del pueblo reconocieron que esta es una gran hazaña de Dios, concediéndoles a todos los soldados a que regresaran vivos a sus familias y a sus tribus. En agradecimiento, ellos trajeron una multitud de ofrendas de lo que recogieron de los despojos de los madianitas. Esta es la promesa que Dios les dio en Levítico 26:8: “Cinco de ustedes perseguirán a cien, y cien de ustedes a diez mil; sus enemigos caerán a espada ante ustedes.”

Esta es una gran muestra de la protección del Señor. Él es el que cuida nuestro hogar en momentos que estamos enfrentando una guerra espiritual, cuando estamos bajo ataque, o cuando nos ponemos en posición de guerra para recuperar lo que hemos perdido. Sea la paz en el hogar, o algún cambio en el comportamiento de un hijo, o restauración matrimonial. ¡Nadie perecerá, seremos protegidos por Dios y Él nos dará la victoria!
Salmos 91:5-7 dice: “No tendrás temor de espanto nocturno ni de flecha que vuele de día ni de peste que ande en la oscuridad ni de plaga que en pleno día destruya. Caerán a tu lado mil y diez mil a tu mano derecha pero a ti no llegará.”

Tengamos siempre esa actitud de humildad, reconociendo que no es por nuestras fuerzas que hemos obtenido las bendiciones sino que es por Dios quien nos dio la protección y provisión, cuando traemos nuestras ofrendas de gratitud en oración día y noche.
Recordemos la convicción que David tenía y que nosotros debemos tener en tiempos de guerra, leamos Salmos 34:7: “El ángel del SEÑOR acampa en derredor de los que le temen, y los libra.”

Numbers 31: God's protection in times of war.

Numbers 31:48-54:
Then the officers who were over thousands of the army, the captains of thousands and captains of hundreds, came near to Moses; and they said to Moses, “Your servants have taken a count of the men of war who are under our command, and not a man of us is missing. Therefore we have brought an offering for the Lord, what every man found of ornaments of gold: armlets and bracelets and signet rings and earrings and necklaces, to make atonement for ourselves before the Lord.” So Moses and Eleazar the priest received the gold from them, all the fashioned ornaments. And all the gold of the offering that they offered to the Lord, from the captains of thousands and captains of hundreds, was sixteen thousand seven hundred and fifty shekels. (The men of war had taken spoil, every man for himself.) And Moses and Eleazar the priest received the gold from the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and brought it into the tabernacle of meeting as a memorial for the children of Israel before the Lord.

This chapter is very impressive for the way it describes the events that happened in the war. And that war was very significant because it was against the Midianites.
It was God Himself who told them to fight against them because God wanted to punish them for the way they deceived the Israelites with their idols and their immoral practices as we saw in chapter 25.

In this war we curiously see that Balaam lived inside the cities of Midian. It is very likely that after having created this diabolical plan to pervert Israel, he had a position within the kingdom of the Midianites. That is why God punished Balaam for having lost the fear of God and having gone after the delights of sin.
The Midianites were a very large population. It consisted of five kings. Five towns with five armies.
As in all wars, soldiers on both sides do not survive; however, the Lord did not allow any Israelite soldier to die at the hand of the Midianites. In a miraculous way the Lord keeps all the soldiers of Israel and none of them perish in the war.
The village leaders recognized that this is a great feat of God, granting all the soldiers to return alive to their families and their tribes. In gratitude, they brought a multitude of offerings from what they collected from the spoils of the Midianites. This is the promise that God gave them in Leviticus 26:8: “Five of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight; your enemies shall fall by the sword before you.”

This is a great token of the Lord's protection. He is the one who takes care of our home in moments when we are facing spiritual warfare, when we are under attack, or when we put ourselves in a position of war to recover what we have lost. Be it peace in the home, or some change in a child's behavior, or marriage restoration. No one will perish, we will be protected by God and He will give us the victory!
Psalms 91:5-7 says: “You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day,
nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday. A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you.”

Let us always have that attitude of humility, recognizing that it is not by our strength that we have obtained the blessings, but rather it is by God who gave us protection and provision, when we bring our offerings of gratitude in prayer day and night.
Let us remember the conviction that David had and that we must have in times of war, let us read Psalms 34:7: “The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him, and delivers them.”

Números 30: Votos y promesas.

Números 30:9‭-‬15 RVA2015:
“‘Todo voto hecho por una viuda o divorciada, por el cual asuma obligación, será válido para ella. “‘Si una mujer en casa de su marido hace un voto o asume una obligación bajo juramento, si su marido se entera, calla al respecto y no se lo prohíbe, todos sus votos serán válidos, y toda obligación que ella asuma será válida. Pero si su marido los anula el día en que se entera, todo lo que salió de sus labios con respecto a sus votos y a la obligación que ella asumió será nulo, porque su marido los anuló; y el SEÑOR la perdonará. Todo voto y todo juramento que contrae obligación para humillarse puede ser confirmado por su marido o anulado por su marido. Pero si su marido calla por completo al respecto, día tras día, entonces confirma todos los votos y todas las obligaciones que ella asumió. Los confirma al callar al respecto el día en que se entera de ellos. Si los anula algún tiempo después de haberse enterado, entonces él cargará con la culpa de ella '' '.

Este capítulo es muy particular porque es la ley donde se regulan los compromisos o las promesas que uno hace al Señor.
Aquí vemos la importancia de la unidad, de estar en común acuerdo entre los miembros del hogar al hacer un voto al Señor. Usualmente, uno hace alguna clase de voto en un momento de fuertes emociones. Sea un momento de desesperación, de alegría, de tristeza, de susto o en un intento de acercarse más a Dios.

Un voto debe ser algo plenamente analizado y consultado con las personas que viven con usted. Hacer un pacto con Dios solo o con una persona se debe tener en cuenta con alguien de autoridad para que no existan después conflictos por ese voto y, en vez de ser una bendición, se convierta en un tropiezo.
El hijo debe consultar con sus padres y el casado o casada con su pareja.
Usualmente, los hijos más jóvenes no tienen desarrollado el sentido común. El nivel de madurez es muy relativo dependiendo de la formación de cada persona, pero los jóvenes necesitan la guianza de los que llevan más tiempo viviendo sobre la tierra.
A las mujeres como a los hombres, sus emociones o impulsos les pueden jugar una mala pasada al momento de tomar alguna decisión en un arranque de emoción como lo explicamos al principio.
Recordemos el ejemplo de Eva y Adán; ella escuchó el argumento de la serpiente, moviendo sus emociones y haciéndola pensar que comer del fruto prohibido no era tan malo sino que, al contrario, iba a obtener un conocimiento superior. Eva, sin hablar primero con Dios y su marido, comió el fruto, después se lo dio a su marido y él comió también. Y después que comieron del fruto, la Biblia relata que en ese momento se les abrieron los ojos y se dieron cuenta que estaban desnudos. La vergüenza tomó el lugar de la pureza y la inocencia. El conocimiento del bien y el mal fue adquirido sacrificando la relación íntima con Dios. Su desobediencia trajo la muerte a sus vidas y a la humanidad, perdiendo el don glorioso de la inmortalidad. Y todo porque Adán y Eva hicieron ese voto de desobediencia, Eva por escuchar a la serpiente y obedecerla, ignorando la orden de Dios; y Adán por su silencio al no haber rechazado el ofrecimiento de Eva y comer la fruta.
Para bien o para mal, Adán y Eva decidieron hacer un voto en común acuerdo y por eso la muerte, el dolor y el sufrimiento vino a ellos. Quizás si Adán hubiera rechazado a Eva, él no perdería su posición delante de Dios.
Es bueno que la pareja se pongan de acuerdo para que el voto que hagan sea un voto de bendición, un compromiso que honre a Dios y honre a la familia.
Ana hizo un voto a Dios que si le daba un hijo, ella lo dedicaría al Señor. Su esposo respetó su voto y asintió cumplirlo, por eso cuando Ana terminó de lactar y criarlo en los primeros años de infancia, cumplió su voto y fue de gran bendición, pues Samuel fue un gran instrumento en las manos de Dios, trajo avivamiento espiritual en Israel y ungió a los dos primeros reyes de Israel: Saul y David.

Cualquier clase de voto de consagración personal o de alguna ofrenda especial se debe hacer con la persona que es responsable o cabeza del hogar.
Eso sí, si prometes un día de ayuno, una ofrenda especial o algo que quieras hacer para Dios, no tardes en cumplirlo. No te apresures para hacer un voto, mira bien si puedes cumplirlo, pero no te tardes en cumplirlo cuando hayas estado seguro en querer hacerlo cuando llegue el día indicado, como dice en Eclesiastés 5:4-6: “Cuando hagas un voto a Dios no tardes en cumplirlo; porque él no se complace en los necios. Cumple lo que prometes. Mejor es que no prometas, que prometas y no cumplas. No dejes que tu boca te haga pecar ni digas delante del mensajero que fue un error. ¿Por qué habrá de airarse Dios a causa de tu voz y destruir la obra de tus manos?”

Numbers 30: Vows and promises.

Numbers 30:9-15:
“Also any vow of a widow or a divorced woman, by which she has bound herself, shall stand against her.
“If she vowed in her husband’s house, or bound herself by an agreement with an oath, and her husband heard it, and made no response to her and did not overrule her, then all her vows shall stand, and every agreement by which she bound herself shall stand. But if her husband truly made them void on the day he heard them, then whatever proceeded from her lips concerning her vows or concerning the agreement binding her, it shall not stand; her husband has made them void, and the Lord will release her. Every vow and every binding oath to afflict her soul, her husband may confirm it, or her husband may make it void. Now if her husband makes no response whatever to her from day to day, then he confirms all her vows or all the agreements that bind her; he confirms them, because he made no response to her on the day that he heard them. But if he does make them void after he has heard them, then he shall bear her guilt.”

This chapter is very particular because it is the law that regulates the commitments or promises that one makes to the Lord.
Here we see the importance of unity, of being in common agreement among the members of the home when making a vow to the Lord. Usually, one makes some kind of vow in a moment of strong emotions. Be it a moment of despair, joy, sadness, fright or in an attempt to get closer to God.

A vote should be something fully discussed and discussed with the people who live with you. Making a pact with God alone or with a person must be taken into account with someone in authority so that later there are no conflicts over that vow and, instead of being a blessing, it becomes a stumbling block.
The child must consult with his parents and the married man or woman with his or her partner.
Usually, the youngest children do not have developed common sense. The level of maturity is very relative depending on the training of each person, but young people need the guidance of those who have been living the longest on earth.
For women as well as for men, their emotions or impulses can play tricks on them when making a decision in a burst of emotion, as we explained at the beginning.
Let us remember the example of Eve and Adam; she listened to the serpent's argument, moving her emotions and making her think that eating the forbidden fruit was not so bad but, on the contrary, she was going to obtain superior knowledge. Eva, without speaking to God and her husband, ate the fruit, and then she gave it to her husband and he ate it too. And after they ate the fruit, the Bible relates that at that moment their eyes were opened and they realized that they were naked. Shame took the place of purity and innocence. The knowledge of good and evil was acquired by sacrificing the intimate relationship with God. Their disobedience brought death to their lives and to humanity, losing the glorious gift of immortality. And all because Adam and Eve made that vow of disobedience, Eve for listening to the snake and obeying it, ignoring God's order; and Adam for his silence by not rejecting Eve's offer and eating the fruit.
For better or for worse, Adam and Eve decided to make a joint vow and so death, pain and suffering came to them. Perhaps if Adam had rejected Eve, he would not lose his position before God.
It is good for the couple to agree so that the vow they make is a vow of blessing, a commitment that honors God and honors the family.
Hannah made a vow to God that if He gave her a son, she would dedicate him to the Lord. Her husband respected her vow and agreed to fulfill it, so when Ana finished breastfeeding and raising him in the early years of childhood, she fulfilled her vow and was a great blessing, because Samuel was a great instrument in the hands of God, he brought spiritual revival in Israel and anointed the first two kings of Israel: Saul and David.

Any kind of vow of personal consecration or of any special offering must be made with the person who is responsible or head of the household.
Of course, if you promise a fast day, a special offering or something you want to do for God, do not delay in fulfilling it. Do not rush to make a vow, see if you can fulfill it, but do not delay in fulfilling it when you have been sure you want to do it when the indicated day arrives, as it says in Ecclesiastes 5:4-6: “When you make a vow to God, do not delay to pay it; for He has no pleasure in fools. Pay what you have vowed— Better not to vow than to vow and not pay. Do not let your mouth cause your flesh to sin, nor say before the messenger of God that it was an error. Why should God be angry at your excuse and destroy the work of your hands?”

Números 29: La bendición de la humillación voluntaria.

Números 29:1‭, ‬7‭, ‬12‭, ‬35‭ RVA2015:
1 “El primer día del mes séptimo tendrán una asamblea sagrada; no harán ningún trabajo laboral. Este será para ustedes día de tocar las trompetas con estrépito.
7 “El diez del mes séptimo tendrán una asamblea sagrada y se humillarán a ustedes mismos. No harán ningún trabajo.
12 “El día quince del mes séptimo tendrán asamblea sagrada. No harán ningún trabajo laboral y celebrarán fiesta al SEÑOR durante siete días.
35 “El octavo día tendrán asamblea festiva. No harán ningún trabajo laboral. Moisés habló a los hijos de Israel conforme a todo lo que el SEÑOR le había mandado.

Como ya lo leímos, hay fiestas en todo el séptimo mes. En el séptimo mes se celebran varias de las fiestas con celebraciones especiales muy significativas.
Esta fiesta conmemora el inicio del año judío conforme al calendario sagrado. Por eso se celebra en el séptimo mes, calendario civil. En ese día se tocan fuertemente las trompetas sobre todo el territorio judío para que todo el mundo detenga sus labores cotidianas y dediquen este mes para celebrar.
El propósito es comenzar el año sagrado con una actitud de humillación voluntaria.
En el primer día se trae holocaustos y ofrendas como inicio de la festividad. Es la fiesta de las trompetas.
Al décimo día se hace un llamado al pueblo, y todos se reúnen para traer ofrendas especiales y humillarse ante el Señor. Es el día de expiación, donde se hace un llamado a una acción de humillación nacional.
Cinco días después, se celebra la fiesta de los tabernáculos.

¡Qué importante es tener una rutina delante de Dios para presentarnos con una actitud de humillación voluntaria! Los judíos practicantes de su fe celebran, hasta el día de hoy, este día para iniciar su año pidiendo perdón a los que han ofendido, reconociendo actitudes erróneas que hayan tenido y reflexionando en las cosas que deben dejar atrás y comenzar un año mejor.
De la misma manera, hoy quisiera que reflexionemos en esta acción de humillación voluntaria, que tengamos esa actitud de madurez espiritual y de humildad para reconocer que debemos continuamente hacer una auto reflexión de nuestro andar, de cómo estamos llevando nuestras vidas, cómo reaccionamos ante las pruebas, sobre los malentendidos con nuestro prójimo, nuestro comportamiento en el hogar con nuestro familia, cómo estamos sirviendo al Señor y si estamos poniendo en acción nuestros dones que Dios ha puesto por medio de su Santo Espíritu en nuestras vidas.

Deseo con mi corazón que podamos hacer esto de seguido. No esperar hasta el fin de año, en la reunión especial en la iglesia, o esperar hasta la próxima celebración de la santa cena, o cuando estemos metidos en algún problema grande y reconocemos que hemos estado obrando injustamente contra alguien o hemos estado haciendo algo que desagrada a Dios.
Espero que esta reflexión nos impulse a tomar la iniciativa de venir ante el Señor en un acto de confesión, reconociendo nuestros errores, y pedirle al Señor que nos revele las cosas donde nos estamos equivocando y qué debemos mejorar, como dijo David en el Salmo 19:12: “¿Quién podrá entender sus propios errores? Líbrame de los que me son ocultos.”

Recordemos que la fórmula para que Dios escuche nuestras oraciones y nos bendiga es: venir ante Él con un corazón humillado, sensible a la voz de Dios y dispuesto a recibir los consejos de la palabra del Señor, como dice Salmo 51:17: “Los sacrificios de Dios son el espíritu quebrantado. Al corazón contrito y humillado no desprecias tú, oh Dios.”
El Señor Jesucristo nos enseñó este principio en Mateo 23:12: “Porque el que se enaltece será humillado, y el que se humilla será enaltecido.” Es mejor humillarnos de forma voluntaria que esperar a que la arrogancia y el orgullo nos lleve al punto de humillación por consecuencias de nuestros malos actos.

Numbers 29: 1, 7, 12, 35:
1 ‘And in the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall have a holy convocation. You shall do no customary work. For you it is a day of blowing the trumpets.
7 ‘On the tenth day of this seventh month you shall have a holy convocation. You shall afflict your souls; you shall not do any work.
12 ‘On the fifteenth day of the seventh month you shall have a holy convocation. You shall do no customary work, and you shall keep a feast to the Lord seven days.
35 ‘On the eighth day you shall have a sacred assembly. You shall do no customary work.

As we already read, there are festivals throughout the seventh month. In the seventh month several of the festivals are celebrated with very significant special celebrations.
This holiday commemorates the beginning of the Jewish year according to the sacred calendar. That is why it is celebrated in the seventh month, civil calendar. On that day the trumpets are blown loudly over the entire Jewish territory so that everyone stops their daily work and dedicates this month to celebrate.
The purpose is to start the sacred year with an attitude of voluntary humiliation.
On the first day burnt offerings and offerings are brought as the beginning of the festival. It is the Feast of Trumpets.
On the tenth day a call is made to the people, and everyone gathers to bring special offerings and humble themselves before the Lord. It is the Day of Atonement, where a call to action of national humiliation is made.
Five days later, the Feast of Tabernacles is celebrated.

How important it is to have a routine before God to present ourselves with an attitude of voluntary humiliation! Practicing Jews of their faith celebrate, to this day, this day to start their year asking for forgiveness from those who have offended, recognizing wrong attitudes they have had and reflecting on the things they must leave behind and start a better year.
In the same way, today I would like us to reflect on this act of voluntary humiliation, that we have that attitude of spiritual maturity and humility to recognize that we must continually reflect on our own path, how we are leading our lives, how we react to trials, about the misunderstandings with our neighbor, our behavior at home with our family, how we are serving the Lord and if we are putting into action our gifts that God has placed through His Holy Spirit in our lives.

I wish with my heart that we can do this often. Not waiting until the end of the year, at the special meeting at church, or waiting until the next sacrament celebration, or when we're in some big trouble and realize we've been wronging someone or doing something that displeases God.
I hope that this reflection encourages us to take the initiative to come before the Lord in an act of confession, acknowledging our mistakes, and asking the Lord to reveal to us the things where we are wrong and what we need to improve, as David said in Psalm 19:12: “Who can understand his errors? Cleanse me from secret faults.”

Let us remember that the formula for God to hear our prayers and bless us is: come before Him with a humbled heart, sensitive to the voice of God and willing to receive the advice of the word of the Lord, as Psalm 51:17 says: “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart— These, O God, You will not despise.”
The Lord Jesus Christ taught us this principle in Matthew 23:12: "And whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.” It is better to humiliate ourselves voluntarily than to wait for arrogance and pride to bring us to the point of humiliation due to the consequences of our bad acts.

Números 28: Ofrendas a Dios dos veces al día.

Números 28:1‭-‬8 RVA2015:
El SEÑOR habló a Moisés diciendo: “Manda a los hijos de Israel y diles: ‘Cumplirán con mis sacrificios, mi pan, mis ofrendas quemadas de grato olor, ofreciéndomelos a su debido tiempo’. Les dirás: ‘Esta es la ofrenda quemada que ofrecerán al SEÑOR: cada día, dos corderos de un año, sin defecto, como holocausto continuo. Ofrecerán uno de los corderos al amanecer y el otro cordero lo ofrecerán al atardecer. La ofrenda vegetal será de dos kilos de harina fina amasada con un litro de aceite puro de olivas’. “Este es el holocausto continuo que fue ofrecido en el monte Sinaí como grato olor, ofrenda quemada al SEÑOR. Su ofrenda líquida será de un litro por cada cordero. Derramarás para el SEÑOR en el santuario una ofrenda de licor. “Ofrecerás el otro cordero al atardecer. Presentarás una ofrenda vegetal como la de la mañana, y del mismo modo su ofrenda líquida. Es una ofrenda quemada de grato olor al SEÑOR.

Este capítulo es parecido al de Levítico 23, cuando Israel se preparaba para salir hacia la tierra prometida, Moisés les instruyó acerca de los holocaustos y ofrendas en las fiestas solemnes. Años después, una nueva generación estaba siendo instruida acerca de la importancia de ofrecer los diferentes holocaustos y ofrendas al Señor. Esto era muy sagrado entre el pueblo de Dios. Moisés les estaba exigiendo que lo hicieran en el orden establecido.
Es muy hermoso poder leer las palabras que Dios le dio a Moisés, deseando que la nueva generación de Israel, que estaba a punto de entrar a la tierra prometida, entendieran la importancia y el deseo de Dios de que ellos ofrezcan a Dios estas ofrendas. Les dijo: ‘Cumplirán con mis sacrificios, mi pan, mis ofrendas quemadas de grato olor, ofreciéndoles a su debido tiempo’.
Para el Señor, esto representaba el amor, la dedicacion y consagracion de sus hijos que había rescatado de la esclavitud y que pronto tendrían su propia tierra. Esa era la forma en que el pueblo agradecía a Dios todos los días por las bendiciones concedidas a ellos. El Dios de los cielos y la tierra, y el Dueño de todas las cosas, se alegraba con esta forma de gratitud por las maravillas y prodigios que mostraba a su pueblo. No era precisamente el valor monetario de la ofrenda de animales, de vegetales ni de líquidos. No era ese cordero o becerro, no era esa ofrenda de harina de trigo o cebada, no era esa ofrenda de aceite y de vino. Era la actitud solemne de humildad, agradecimiento y fe, reconociendo el favor de Dios hacia un pequeño pueblo entre las multitudes de las naciones de la tierra.

Hoy quiero que reflexionemos acerca de las veces que se ofrecían las ofrendas y los holocaustos. Se ofrecían dos veces, uno en la mañana y otro en la tarde. De la misma manera, debemos sacar ese tiempo para poder hablar con Dios.
Hoy en día, como cristianos, no estamos bajo la ley de Moises, pero sí podemos traer al Señor ofrendas de gratitud, de entera consagración, de una completa dependencia a Él. Nuestras oraciones, alabanzas, adoración, entrega, obediencia, servicio y devoción se convierten en esa ofrenda, en ese incienso de fragancia agradable para Dios. Como dice en Hebreos 13:15: “Así que, ofrezcamos siempre a Dios, por medio de él, sacrificio de alabanza, es decir, fruto de labios que confiesan su nombre.”
Nosotros debemos traer nuestras vidas transformadas por Jesucristo como ese sacrificio para Dios. Venimos a ser parte de sus diarias ofrendas.
Jesucristo es nuestro Cordero que se ofreció como sacrificio por nuestros pecados; gracias a su sacrificio de amor supremo y perfecto nuestras vidas son o pueden ser transformadas.

Cuando nos levantemos en la mañana, ofrezcamos esas ofrendas que salen de nuestros labios, de nuestro corazón como un olor grato para Él. Al acostarnos, en las noches, no olvidemos darle gracias a Dios por bendecirnos y guardarnos, y porque con su ayuda pudimos permanecer firmes sin caer en malos pasos.
Orar dos veces al día es lo mínimo que podemos hacer. Daniel lo hacía 3 veces al día, y David menciona en uno de los salmos que él alababa a Dios 7 veces al día.
Si tomamos una actitud diferente cuando oramos, presentándonos primero como ofrendas agradables delante de Dios, en vez de pedirle cosas, hallaremos la gracia de Dios, Dios se alegrará de nosotros, nos recibirá en su presencia y entonces podemos proceder a presentar nuestras necesidades delante de Dios.

Numbers 28: Offerings to God twice a day.

Numbers 28:1-8:
Now the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “Command the children of Israel, and say to them, ‘My offering, My food for My offerings made by fire as a sweet aroma to Me, you shall be careful to offer to Me at their appointed time.’
“And you shall say to them, ‘This is the offering made by fire which you shall offer to the Lord: two male lambs in their first year without blemish, day by day, as a regular burnt offering. The one lamb you shall offer in the morning, the other lamb you shall offer in the evening, and one-tenth of an ephah of fine flour as a grain offering mixed with one-fourth of a hin of pressed oil. It is a regular burnt offering which was ordained at Mount Sinai for a sweet aroma, an offering made by fire to the Lord. And its drink offering shall be one-fourth of a hin for each lamb; in a holy place you shall pour out the drink to the Lord as an offering. The other lamb you shall offer in the evening; as the morning grain offering and its drink offering, you shall offer it as an offering made by fire, a sweet aroma to the Lord.

This chapter is similar to that of Leviticus 23, when Israel was preparing to leave for the promised land, Moses instructed them about burnt offerings and offerings on solemn feasts. Years later, a new generation was being instructed about the importance of offering the different burnt offerings and offerings to the Lord. This was very sacred among God's people. Moses was demanding that they do it in the established order.
It is very beautiful to be able to read the words that God gave to Moses, wishing that the new generation of Israel, who was about to enter the promised land, would understand the importance and God's desire that they offer these offerings to God. He told them: ‘My offering, My food for My offerings made by fire as a sweet aroma to Me, you shall be careful to offer to Me at their appointed time.’
To the Lord, this represented the love, dedication and consecration of His children who He had rescued from slavery and who would soon have their own land. That was the way the people thanked God every day for the blessings bestowed upon them. The God of heaven and earth, and the Owner of all things, rejoiced in this form of gratitude for the wonders and miracles He showed His people. It was not precisely the monetary value of the offering of animals, vegetables or liquids. It was not that lamb or calf, it was not that offering of wheat flour or barley, it was not that offering of oil and wine. It was the solemn attitude of humility, gratitude and faith, acknowledging God's favor towards a small people among the multitudes of the nations of the earth.

Today I want us to reflect on the times that were offered offerings and burnt offerings. They were offered twice, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. In the same way, we must take that time to be able to talk with God.
Today, as Christians, we are not under the law of Moses, but we can bring to the Lord offerings of gratitude, of entire consecration, of complete dependence on Him. Our prayers, praises, adoration, surrender, obedience, service and devotion become that offering, that incense with a pleasant fragrance for God. As it says in Hebrews 13:15: “Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.”
We must bring our lives transformed by Jesus Christ as that sacrifice for God. We come to be part of His daily offerings.
Jesus Christ is our Lamb that was offered as a sacrifice for our sins; thanks to His sacrifice of supreme and perfect love our lives are or can be transformed.

When we get up in the morning, let us offer those offerings that come out of our lips, of our hearts as a pleasant aroma for Him. When we go to bed, at night, let us not forget to thank God for blessing us and keeping us, and because with His help we were able to stand firm without falling into bad ways.

Praying twice a day is the least we can do. Daniel did it 3 times a day, and David mentions in one of the psalms that he praised God 7 times a day.
If we take a different attitude when we pray, presenting ourselves first as pleasing offerings before God, instead of asking for things, we will find God's grace, God will rejoice in us, receive us in His presence and then we can proceed to present our needs before God.
