Hogz 2 Slop & Moviez 4 Babiez & The Puffin Publishing Podcast

It's the episode you've all been waiting for: the Babiez are finally talking about the 1950s musical adaptation of the defunct comic strip Li'l Abner. It's definitely normal that we're covering this before, like, even one Disney animated film. Or a Pixar. Or a Studio Ghibli. No Totoro. Only Abner.

Before discussing this movie's totally fucked sexual & racial politics, we wax about the cinematic majesty of trains. And we finish everything off with another round of Have Yourself A Rich Little Christmas.

Normal!

This show is back!

TV's Kevin takes the time to explain to you last year's ~controversial~ film May December, whether or not it's a boring Carol rip-off, the films of Todd Haynes, and more!

You know it by heart. And now it's time for the Babiez to recite it back to you as they discuss the movie that taught kids around the world about 70's movie endings: Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

TV's Kevin & Justin talked about their mutual obsession (the Apple TV+ original series For All Mankind) and the only way to hear it is over at www.patreon.com/tvskevin. Not even that immortal scamp John Lennon can stop you!

This month, you can call us Monkeez 4 Babiez cuz we're talking about the 1968 Bob Rafelson joint, Head! Hot off their hit all ages TV show, The Monkees are sick to hell of their jobs and burn up a bunch of movie studio money making a plotless movie about how much they hate their jobs, equates their fans with the bombing of Cambodia, and features more than one actual execution. Exactly what you expect from the Monkees! Co-written by Jack Nicholson! That Jack Nicholson!

Kevin tells us about the malleable, transformative RPG where you yell at squirrels, Baldur's Gate 3!

Justin tells us about the manga (and a little bit about the anime) Pluto!

The Babiez begin a new holiday tradition by exchanging televised holiday specials with each other, for your listening pleasure and their viewing agony! This year's selections: Joe Pera Helps You Pick Out the Perfect Christmas Tree, Ziggy's Gift, and Rich Little's A Christmas Carol, featuring the wonderful talents of Joe Pera and animator Richard Williams as well as the crimes of impressionist Rich Little.

Fair warning: the dang GRINCH stole a couple of our audio tracks, so the audio is a tad lower quality than normal. But there are episodes of much bigger podcasts that sound way worse! This sounds fine, honestly!

Vern tells us about a "movie" he "enjoyed," the Jennifer Lawrence comedy No Hard Feelings (2023)!

Vern regales us with tales from the Salt Lake City music festival, Honey Days!
