Homecoming 2021

We will look at pain and suffering as we consider why God allows his children to hurt sometimes. 2 Corinthians 1:3-11 will be the primary text for this message.

This message will focus on the need for gratitude in our lives and the cautionary tale of letting pride take root in our attitudes. The text will largely focus on Hezekiah as we look at 2 Kings 20:1-11; 2 Kings 18:5-7a; 2 Chronicles 32:24-26; Colossians 3:17; and 1 Corinthians 10:12.

This message will serve to remind us that doing the work of Jesus is the most important endeavor we undertake as Christians. Walking in light means we should leave the ways of darkness behind. John 9 is our primary text from the Bible, while 1 Peter 2:9 and other scriptures might also be used.

As our society continues toward a post-Christian reality, we need to be emotionally prepared for this. 2 Timothy contains some of the final words Paul would write. We will look at part of this letter as an encouragement to maintain our faith and guard the gospel’s truth.

We take a look at 1 Kings 7, John 13, Ephesians 2 and 4 as we gain a deeper understanding of how our Heavenly Father calls us to use our gifts for service to others.

As our nation celebrates its independence, we look at John 8 and Matthew 27 in considering how we as God’s children have gained our own freedom once we become followers of Jesus.

Portions of Hebrews 5 and 1 Corinthians 9 are explored as we consider the training and discipline necessary to live the most faithful life possible as we grow as people in our walk with God.

Matthew 4 and James 3 are the primary scriptures used in this message in which we consider the only Fruit of the Spirit that applies to humans but not to God. This concludes our series, Becoming More Like Jesus.
