This message will remind us, or possibly help us understand for the first time, the nature of the human soul. I plan to use a portion of Psalm 23; Matthew 22:34-40; Matthew 16:21-27; and 3 John 2 as I teach this.

This message is to provide us with insight into how the early church would fellowship and care for one another. Luke 22:7-12 and Acts 1:12-14 will be among several New Testament scriptures that will be used to help understand life together.

I will use 2 Kings 6:8-23 as the primary text to illustrate God’s presence, though unseen. Romans 8:28 will be used to remind us how God is at work in the world and in our lives.

Romans 15:1-13 and Galatians 6:9 will serve to remind us to let the love of Christ and an enduring of others be something we live by throughout the year–and not just during the season of Christmas–if we truly are imitating Christ.

This message will bring a close to our four-week series inspired by Advent. Adoration (Love) will be the focus of this teaching as we consider the family of Jesus and how all of us fit right in.

As we continue our series, The Promise of Christmas, this message will serve to explain a little about the inspiration of this series: Advent and the liturgical calendar. This sermon ultimately centers on joy and we will look at the joyful celebration in the birth narrative of Jesus in Luke 1 and 2.

This message will seek to show us how  the prophecies concerning the birth of the Messiah in the Hebrew Bible are fulfilled in Jesus’ birth in the gospels of Matthew and Luke. Jesus is good news.

As we begin a four-week series, The Promise of Christmas, we will look specifically at the concept of hope as found in Holy Scripture. We will look at numerous scriptures from the Hebrew Bible and the New Testament as we seek a renewed understanding of humanity’s greatest gift.
