In this episode of Sit Down and Listen we discuss the Reformation, the religious revolution that took place in the Western church in the 16th century. The reformers rejected the authority of the pope as well as many of the principles and practices of Catholicism of that time. The essential tenets of the Reformation are that the Bible is the sole authority for all matters of faith and conduct and that salvation is by God's grace and by faith in Jesus Christ.

The book of Esther showcases a beautiful story that revolves around the life of a courageous young woman. Esther would serve as a type of Christ as she would intercede for her people and perform the most loving act that can ever be offered, put her own life on the line. But within this high value, intense drama we find the character of Mordecai and his bitter relationship with Haman, the gallows that were built for Mordecai became Haman's downfall. The King of Israel honored Mordecai, but can there be any parallel between an Old Testament story and the newness of life believers find in Christ? In this weeks episode of Sit Down And Listen we will come to the realization that just how the King honored Mordecai the sovereign Lord has decided to prepare Robes, Horses, and Crowns.
Often referred to as the "microwave generation" in which patience is a long lost virtue, It is very easy to see that the new generations that are developing under this culture are establishing a foundation that is dominated by physical appearances, pleasure over responsibilities, and a lack of critical thinking. We are known as the generation that doesn't think twice when it comes to challenging and disrespecting authorities both at home and in our societies. For many the person of the Shepard boy that would later become King doesn't immediately connect and it shouldn't, but David, along with his mighty men, can teach this new generation some essential truths that can help us carry the burdens of these times. In this episode of Sit Down And Listen we are confronted by the actions and attitudes of men whose boldness served to build a kingdom and it is this same boldness that will empower this new generation.
The cross is often seen as a place of darkness, pain, embarrassment and helpless suffering. But that is only one side of the panorama when it comes to death Christ suffered. In this episode of the SDAL podcast we pick up where we left off last episode after Christ is betrayed by one of his own, he is sentenced to death and now must carry out the mission for which he was sent. But within every particular event in the final hours of the passion we see a blessed irony that serve to bring the exact opposite effect. Hope, joy, victory and assurance. That very same assurance that we stand on, one provided by the irony of the cross...
