  • 4 Tips to Better Health and Wellness

    Send us Fan Mail

Please tell me I am not the only one who has struggled with finding that right balance when it comes to health and wellness? Years ago I was going through one of the toughest, most pivotal moments of my life when my brother encouraged me to stay active and find outlets for my physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health.

Well, one thing I found was that all four of these, in one way or another, involve REST. Forbes did a great article about 6 pieces of expert sleep advice where they unpacked sleeps effect on our immune health, for fitness, for our brain health, for preventative health, consistency, and overall routine. Experts say that the more we can balance these four areas, the healthier our body systems - which overall effects our health and wellness.

The challenge seems to be in knowing HOW to find that balance? Well, today on Holly's Highlights we are going to take a closer look at exploring these areas, ask some questions for self reflection in each one, identify how you can set goals to acheive that overall balance, and provide resources and tools to equip you for a better health and wellness for the season of life you are in right now.

At the end of it all - as spring has sprung - bloom where you are planted - in health in wellness in all.

  • As Luck Would Have It - The Power of Prayer

    Send us Fan Mail

As St. Patrick's Day approaches we tend to think about those little leprechauns, browse our wardrobe for apparel of green, and give into superstitions of luck. Well, as much as luck would have it in some peoples lives, I have always preferred to say blessed. Basically because I'm not sure I believe in luck (Yikes! I said it!).

No, I believe more in the power of prayer. Now I may have lost you there, but stick with me for a moment. There are some challenges to accepting this thing called prayer which we will discuss on Holly's Highlights podcast today. First - why pray? Or second, if they decide that praying may be worth giving a shot, well, they may not know how to pray.

Join me as we dive into this thing called luck - and discover the power of prayer.

  • Parenting Kids' Screen Time

    Send us Fan Mail

Good morning! Happy New year my friend. Of course every year when entering a new year, we all tend to re-evaluate life and as result tend to set goals for the new year to come. Statista.com states the #1 goal made each year of course as we’d probably all guess has to do with our health. Forbes  reports 80% of resolutions are broken before February.

One goal I set each year is with my parenting - of getting more sleep, but according to a recent doctor visit it seems a new concern for parents these days should be parenting their kids' screen time.

Well, perhaps you are battling this same dilemma, or maybe your child already has social media access or even just basic technology use, but you have some questions to help keep them safe and healthy too.

Today we have special guest, Ms. Arlene Pellicane. Arlene Pellicane is a speaker, podcast host, and published author. She has been featured on the Today Show, Fox & Friends, the Wall Street Journal and one of my favorites, Focus on the Family. • Mercy Ships

    Send us Fan Mail

Today is Giving Tuesday. Giving Tuesday was created back in 2012 to help "unite countries around the world by sharing our capacity to care for and empower one another."

Well, today we have special guest Warrie Blackburn with us from Mercy Ships. Mercy Ships is a non-profit organization seeking to transcend borders and change lives. Globally, 5 billion people lack access to safe surgery. Children, teens, and adults suffer and die every day from treatable causes, and one child in eight will die before age 5.  With the support of people like you, Mercy Ships deploys hospital ships to combat this overwhelming statistic. Since over 50% of the world's population lives near a coast, Mercy Ship ships are the best way to reach them with state-of-the-art medical care.

You'll not want to miss hearing how Mercy Ships uses hospital ships to transform lives and serve nations, one at a time.
