Following Ronan Farrow's second expose in the New Yorker, Les Moonves stepped down from CBS on Sunday, and later in the week, Jeff Fager, the head of '60 Minutes,' also departed.
The Academy has put its plan to introduce a new category for best "popular" film on indefinite hold. It will go forward with presenting 6-8 awards during commercial breaks in order to streamline and shorten the TV broadcast of the ceremony.
The Venice Film Festival starts next week, and with it, the unofficial kickoff to awards season. Netflix has had great success racking up awards for television, but so far, not much luck on the film side. This year, the streamer is trying to change that.
The #TimesUp movement is facing some difficult questions with no easy answers. Recent projects have people asking, what kind of past misdeeds can be forgiven, and how long do people need to wait before returning to work?
In an effort to boost ratings for the Oscars, the Academy said they'd be making some changes to the awards show--including awarding certain categories during commercial breaks, as well as adding a new category for popular films. But so far, that new category is not getting good reviews.
Following Ronan Farrow's expose in the New Yorker, an investigation has begun looking into the CBS CEO and allegations of sexual assault. Moonves remains on the job, but he may not be there for long if more alleged victims come forward.
