The Holochronicles Podcast

Episode 25 Sept 30, 2019

1:06:13 length

Time Stamps

3:05 Easter egg: John Ratzenburger is known for his role as Cliff Claven on Cheers, has had a speaking role in every Pixar movie so far, AND has a credited role in Empire Strikes Back as Major Darlin (Hoth). By the way, Josh was right about John playing the pig (Ham) in the Toy Story series.

5:56 Death Star Babies: Yes, you read that right. Andy introduces an idea about all the celebratory babies that were conceived after each of the death stars were blown up - very similar to the idea of Super Bowl babies. Lots of laughs. Ben/Kylo could be. Poe and Hux possibly. One thing is for sure, the First Order is filled with soldiers and officers who were products of Death Star Celebrations. Many alien life forms too.

12:26 Interview with Matt Norris of PopVinyls.com and @PopVinyls.com He shares a lot of wisdom and knowledge about the early days of Pops and what it’s become. Fun time!

23:00 Matt moves from inside the house to the front porch and you can hear the crickets!

Welcome to the Holochronicles. Episode 22 is action packed! We discuss the new footage released at D23. Challenge each other with a little trivia and make some pretty weird connections - that work! Enjoy!

2:00 - #showmeyourcollection with Pete Fleeter @petefletzer and his autographed POTF carded figures, as well as Ryan’s ( @bullskywalker ) vintage and POTF figures in scenes. Some are even from his childhood!

9:48 - Mailbag question from @darthrio: are bootleg (repro) deals too good to be true? We go into some benefits of going the less expensive route, but we prefer original and authentic.

23:44 - Easter Egg. Jon Bon Jovi’s first credited song came from a Star Wars Christmas album: Christmas In the Stars - R2-D2 We Wish You A Merry Christmas. His name is spelled Jon Bongiovi on the back of the album, under Vocals.

30:22 - Trivia. Star Wars Trivial Pursuit. Answer along with us.

38:00 - Mandalorian trailer sizzle! We are so pumped. We love that it appears to cover many planets.

45:20 - epIX teaser. Deliberate inclusion of epI-VI footage to tie it all together. Lots of hands touching. All the OT ships flying in and a fleet of Imperial Star Destroyers look badass. Evil C-3PO? No, battle mode! Kyle’s saber is pissed.

1:10:00 - Grease connection…Andy was disappointed when Sandy (Olivia Newton John) from Grease traded in her wholesome, innocent self for a smoking, bad girl dressed in black. She compromised everything she stood for in the name of Summer Love. Gross. Rey can’t do that….

*Blooper cut post outro - Andy got a sudden leg cramp and Josh shames him for drinking his first ever White Claw.

The boys wrap on their experience being guests on the WSTRMedia and Around the Galaxy podcasts. Spoiler, we went longer than expected and it was a ton of fun. Ironically, this pod was right at 1 hour - which is always the goal. We hit on all the typical topics and try out a new bit that could be huge…or disappointing.

Time Stamps

7:45 - #showmeyourcollection this week was from Kate1138. She had a wall of funko pops, some very cool autographs, and tasteful Leia tattoo.

11:30 - Mailbag question from Anthony @antshotfirst. He wanted to know some tips for just starting a vintage SW figures collection. Make a list, make a budget, be diligent on seller sites like Facebook groups, eBay, OfferUp, LetItGo, etc. We love this!

21:02 - Collector Tip: How to brighten up faded figures/vehicles that used to be white using some hydrogen peroxide and sunlight.

27:40 - Easter Egg. The character Bossk’s outfit from Empire Strikes Back is taken directly from an early Doctor Who outfit.

32:20 - Star Wars Impressions! This is a new bit that we’ll do occasionally. The energy picks up, once they get past the origins of this potentially terrible idea. Or maybe it’s genius? Time will tell, but for now, we’ll try to see who did a better Italian Watto. Even had a “Russian Mic” reference. If you ever thought we were dorks, this might be the most damning evidence.

40:50 - Main topic is the Obi-Wan Disney Plus series all but confirmed with Ewan McGregor. We have great plans for this….plot ideas, who is on the planet at this time (Jabba’s rise to power, Yak Face, Amanaman), how much Owen/Beru/Luke intersect with his goings on while hanging out on Tatooine.

Trevor calls in with his experience at Washington State Summer-Con in Puyallup, WA. Trevor is a founding member of the Blue Milk Brigade (BMB). Josh Most attended as well and both described their experiences meeting Temura Morrison (Jango Fett, clones), Carl Weathers (Mandalorian) and Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian). Josh and Trevor also explain what the Con was like, what they saw and what they came away with for their collections.

Time Stamps

5:10 Trevor talks about meeting Temura Morrison

13:45 Heroes surpassing expectations

21:10 Josh talks about his Carl Weathers experience

25:10 photo op with Billy Dee Williams

29:26 #showmeyourcollection Todd from @wstrmedia has a tremendous empirial helmet sleeve tattoo (Boba Fett also included), that has taken 6 years to complete - and it’s awesome!

36:10 Collector Tip - be mindful of the reasons some people are getting rid of their collections. They could be falling on hard financial times, moving or just changing priorities. Collections are personal so while you may be benefitting from them, they might be reluctantly doing this. Keep that in mind and stay kind.

42:36 Andy goes through why Luke’s Last Jedi performance bothered some people and what that could mean for Ben Solo in episode 9 - Luke was the only one in the Galaxy who held onto hope that Vader could be turned back to the Light side of the Force….but did/does not hold that same hope for Ben/Kylo Ren...pretty powerful.
