East Londoner Angela Matthews reflects on her time living in Jamaica with her husband and two small children and how there's so much more to Jamaica than Rasta, weed and parties. Despite having to establish work, schooling and networks in Jamaica, she is determined to build a life of her own and recognises the prospects one has once you're out there. With the view that more Jamaicans are likely to stay home than migrate overseas if those living off the island contributed more to its development by feeding money back home. "People in the diaspora want to vote and contribute but Jamaica needs more choice of political parties".
