  • 26-08-30 AI in Christian Thought
AI in Christian Thought Faith Debate: Sunday, August 30th, 2026 (09/06/26 on 930 WFMD in Frederick, Maryland) What's "Artificial Intelligence"? Before we respond to AI, we must understand it refers to computational systems trained on massive datasets to recognize patterns, generate outputs, & simulate reasoning. It doesn't possess consciousness, a soul, or genuine understanding in a meaningful sense. Large Language Models are trained on human-generated text. They reflect/amplify whatever values/assumptions/worldviews that dominate training data. The distinction between narrow AI & general AI is critical for calibrating a response appropriately. AI is a human artifact, not a rival to humanity. It's a tool made by image-bearers, not an image-bearer itself, so calling it "intelligent" is a category error. Let's define terms carefully. This episode is part 3 of a 5-part conversation (piggybacking on a 2-part AI discussion from earlier in 2026). To hear the 5 parts in uninterrupted fashion, go to the Christian Podcast Community & find the Theology Throwdown show from 04-11-26. • When Judgment Begins at Home
When Judgment Begins at Home (1 Peter 4:17-19): Suffering in the life of a believer is never random; it's the refining hand of a Father who begins His work of judgment with His own household first. This message walks through the purpose behind present difficulty, the peril awaiting those without Christ, and the practice of entrusting our souls to a faithful Creator even in the fire, because the same trial that purifies the righteous is the warning sign for the ungodly.

  • Judgement Begins at Home
Judgement Begins at Home (1 Peter 4:17-18) The sermon examines 1 Peter 4:17-18 to explain that God's judgment begins with His own household, serving as a refining fire for believers rather than a condemning sentence. This divine discipline purifies the church by exposing hidden idols and strengthening faith through trials, distinguishing it from the destructive final judgment awaiting those who reject the gospel. The preacher emphasizes that while the righteous are saved with difficulty through God's sovereign grace and preserving power, their salvation is secure because Christ has already borne their penalty. Believers are encouraged to view suffering as a fatherly correction intended for their good, while unbelievers face a terrifying future without a substitute. The message concludes with an urgent call to trust in Jesus Christ before the door of mercy closes.
