Homebrew Magic

Hello and welcome to the Homebrew Magic podcast!

This week we're previewing the Commander 2019 preconstructed decks due for release on 8/23/19. Tune in to find out what we like and don't like from this offering, and hear our thoughts as to which of these decks is the best!

Hello and welcome to the Homebrew Magic podcast!

After a bit of a rough weekend and trouble with the Throne of Eldraine and Brawl recording Nelson and Schnell did last week, we pivoted! We're going to bring our initial Throne of Eldraine and Brawl reactions a little later than we had anticipated, but this week Nelson takes a deeper dive into what he's playing in Standard on Arena right now. The deck lists for the three decks he's playing the most right now are:

Yarokharmonicon

Elementaggro

4x Scorch Spitter

Hail, Hydras

4x Llanowar Elves

Hello and welcome to the Homebrew Magic podcast!

This week we're talking all about the changes that have recently been implemented to MtG Arena over the past few updates.

Is the Mastery Track cool? How badly did they botch its initial implementation? Did they do enough to fix it? Does Schnell even know what the hell Arena is? Are you excited for the new Arena-specific Historic format? All that and more in this week's episode!

Hello and welcome to the Homebrew Magic podcast!

Pre-release weekend for Core Set 2020 has come and gone, but that doesn't mean we don't have things to say as you prepare to play and draft this set! We also give you some thoughts on how Standard may be impacted down the road, too.

Hello and welcome to the Homebrew Magic podcast!

After a bit of a break due to scheduling issues, we're back!

We've got a little bit of everything for you this week, but we really spend time focusing on the merits of core sets being regular releases, along with what we like and dislike about core sets and the functions they serve.

Nelson gets a little too excited and wants to talk Commander 2019 before Core Set 2020 is even released, but does that honestly surprise anyone? We didn't think so either.

Be sure to check back next week when we review how Core Set 2020 pre-release weekend went for each of us!

Hello and welcome the Homebrew Magic podcast!

This week, 2/3 of the crew are fighting colds and allergies, and Schnell tries to not infect the rest of us with the plague!

In addition to discussing what we've been up to in Magic lately, we take time this episode to discuss the War of the Spark novel written by Greg Weisman, you can find it here: War of the Spark Novel

We also preview some of the cards we're most excited for from Modern Horizons, at least before we've gotten to play with the set. We'll come back next week with our first impressions from pre-release weekend.

Hello and welcome to the Homebrew Magic podcast! Nelson is back with another EDH deck tech this week, and we're talking vampires! Love Eminence? Love tokens? How about vampires from the Markov family? Then you're in luck!

Hello and welcome to the Homebrew Magic podcast!

This week we're doing another color spotlight! Teej and Nelson discuss five of their favorite blue cards from Magic's history, with a few honorable mentions along the way. Schnell is out this week as he's moving his store location, so we wish him all the best in the new larger space!

Hello and welcome to the Homebrew Magic podcast! It's been a while, but we're back!

Hello and welcome to the Homebrew Magic podcast! This week we're talking all things War of the Spark!

We've each picked five cards we're excited about for one reason or another and break them down for you, and tell you why you should be excited, too! Before we get into that, though, we take you through what we've each been up to in the world of Magic since the last time we talked.
