Hello and welcome to the Homebrew Magic podcast!
Join Schnell and Nelson this week as they cover all kinds of topics ranging from what we're up to in Magic Arena, to the new Oathbreaker format, and, of course, reaction to THAT War of the Spark trailer and the spoilers we've seen released since the PAX East panel.

This week we're discussing the new 2019 Challenger Decks that were recently spoiled. We built the decks in Arena and play-tested them so that you don't have to! Tune in to find out what we liked and didn't like about each deck, how we would improve them, and how they fared in Arena play. We did the legwork for you before you buy!

Hello and welcome to the Homebrew Magic podcast!
Schnell is still out of the country this week, so Teej and Nelson are back as your hosts.
Tonight is our first of what will be five "spotlight" episodes for each color in Magic: the Gathering. Nelson, being an English major, insisted that we go in alphabetical order, so we begin tonight with our first color, black!
In this episode we discuss what the color wheel (or pie, or whatever you want to call it) in Magic is, while giving focus to all things black. What's good? What's bad? Is black fun to play? What are it's strengths? Does it have inherent weaknesses? Be sure to listen to find out!
Next month we'll have a spotlight for blue. If you have anything you'd like mentioned in that episode, good or bad, be sure to drop us a line at [email protected], or leave a comment on this episode or in one of our online communities on Facebook or Instagram; just search @homebrewmagic.
Hello and welcome to the Homebrew Magic podcast!
Just one week after the three of us were finally back together, we're down one man again with Schnell sitting this week out. So be sure to join Teej and Nelson as we discuss the new Modern Horizons announcement and dive into what we're currently seeing in Standard.
Are you excited for Modern Horizons? What are you playing in Standard? Any decks that you're just sick and tired of playing against? Be sure to let us know in the comments!
Hello and welcome to the Homebrew Magic podcast!
This week we're all about that War of the Spark teaser that Wizards dropped on us late last week. Listen and speculate in real-time with us as we click through the trailer, analyzing as many window panes as possible.
Will planeswalkers be printed at rarities other than mythic? Will each pack of War of the Spark have a planewalker in it, much like Dominaria had a legendary creature in each pack? All of this and more is covered this week!
You may notice the outro is said by Nelson about three times before he finally gets it right, but he couldn't edit the bloopers out because the jokes were too good. We hope you have a good laugh at his expense!
What do you guys think we're in store for when War of the Spark finally drops? Let us know in the comments, or at one of our social channels, @homebrewmagic on Facebook or Instagram!
Hello and welcome to the Homebrew Magic Podcast!

Hello and welcome to the Homebrew Magic podcast! This week we're a little short-handed with Teej off on official bowling business, so Schnell and Nelson are here to talk about something that grinds their gears - overused Commanders (and the people constantly asking "the Hivemind" the same questions every time you see a post in a Facebook group).
Rather than gush over Commanders like Atraxa, Scion of the Ur Dragon, Breya, etc., we take some time to run down our top 5 un-heralded and less run Commanders.
What do you think of our lists? Who did we leave out? Who shouldn't be on our lists? Let us know in the comments, and be sure to tune in next week when we discuss the new Ravnica Allegiance Guild Kits before they release on 2/15/19!
Hello and welcome to the Homebrew Magic podcast!
This week we are recapping the Ravnica Allegiance Pre-Release weekend that just went down, talking all things Allegiance and giving a rundown of our experiences this weekend. What did we crack? What did we build? Did anyone win? Is the set fun to play, or does it totally suck? Find out all that and more this week!
We also take a little dive into what we all did leading up to the weekend, hitting everything from Arena, to paper Magic, to why EDH just isn’t as fun 1v1 as other formats of Magic are.
As always, please be sure to rate, review, and subscribe! Be sure to check out our online communities, @homebrewmagic, on Instagram and Facebook!
Hello and welcome to another episode of the Homebrew Magic podcast! This week we’re all about spoilers, and we discuss our favorite spoiled cards from Ravnica Allegiance ahead of the pre-release events this weekend.
Tune in to find out what we’ve been up to over the past week in the Magic-verse, hear about our most anticipated Allegiance cards, and if you can guess the arcade machine in Schnell’s store, The Game Dealer, that’s playing faint music in the background, you just may win a Magic-themed prize!
Thanks for listening, and be sure to rate, review, and subscribe! Also be sure to check out our social communities on Instagram and and Facebook, @homebrewmagic, and drop us a line at [email protected] to let us know what you’d like to hear covered in a future episode!
