Joe Ward is the managing director of Australian live streaming company Netgigs. Joe joined Homebrewed to discuss the creation of his brainchild, Netgigs, a pay-per-view streaming service aiming to give artists at least 80% of the revenue. You may remember that we spoke about Netgigs back in May on this podcast, and they have continued to grow in stature and importance. Joe tells us how and why he started Netgigs, how COVID has impacted the company, and the future plans for Netgigs. It was announced back in June after a long delay that the arts would be receiving $250 million as part of a relief package from the Federal Government. At the time it was scrutinised by those in the arts saying it wasn't enough, but it was better than nothing. However, six weeks later, that's exactly what the arts sector has received - nothing.

Popular Perth venue Red Hill Auditorium has announced plans to become Australia's first 'carbon negative' music venue. In a statement on Monday Red Hill Auditorium reps said, “From this summer, for every show that hits Red Hill’s stage, the venue will contribute to the re-establishment of ecosystems in degraded farming land in the Western Australian wheatbelt, also known as the Yarra Yarra Biodiversity Corridor."
