  • Alert But Not Alarmed: UK Be Ready

The UK government wants you ready for three days. Is the list enough?

The UK government’s new Be Ready campaign asks every household to be able to manage on its own for three days in an emergency, from severe weather and power cuts to cyber attacks. It comes with a checklist of supplies.

In this Homefront Today, Giuliano and Luke go through the list item by item. They look at what’s on it, why it’s there, and what it’s like to rely on it in a real emergency. Then they add a couple of things the list doesn’t include, starting with the bucket, one of the most underrated pieces of kit you can own.

Being ready isn’t only about what’s in your cupboard. It’s also about knowing who plans for your area, and what to ask them.

  • Drones Over Europe

Airports shut down. Drones over military bases, a nuclear power plant and ships at sea. In our first episode we told you about the drone found on the tarmac at Leipzig, carrying explosives. Since then the headlines haven’t stopped. So what’s actually going on?

In this episode Giuliano and Luke split it in two. Giuliano looks at the small drones closing airports and circling critical infrastructure across Europe: what they are, what they’re doing, and why nobody has yet proved who flew a single one. Luke looks at the big ones: Russian military drones over Poland, tankers set on fire off Romania, and an attack on Riyadh’s airport. Together they ask why stopping drones is so hard, who is actually in charge when one appears, and what all of this means for you, whether you’re stuck in a departures hall or just reading the news.

  • The War You're Already In

A drone loaded with explosives found on an airport runway in Germany. A power cable under the Baltic cut by a ship’s anchor. A dam in Norway opened by hackers. Teenagers paid a few hundred euros online to start fires. They reach the news one at a time, but they’re connected.

In our first episode, Giuliano and Luke explain hybrid warfare in plain language: attacks designed so nobody can easily prove who sent them, and kept just below the line where they’d count as war. There’s the war you can see on the news, and the war you can’t. Either way, it reaches you.

We look at what it looks like across Europe right now, and what it means at home: your electricity bill, your flight, your hospital appointment, your phone’s map, and the “easy money” offer a young person might get online.

You can be at peace on paper and still be under attack. Understand it. Question it. Be part of it.

  • What is Homefront? (Trailer)

How does war, modern conflict actually affect you and I?

Drones over airports. Cables cut on the seabed. Hackers in the supermarket fridges. The headlines arrive one at a time. Homefront puts them together for the people they actually affect. Giuliano, a humanitarian who ran emergency operations in Ukraine, and Luke, a former British Army engineer who served with NATO in Estonia, explain what’s happening, who decides, and what you can ask. Deep dives every two weeks, Homefront Today when the news demands it, and Homefront Memories on how civilians lived through it before. Not warmongering, not fearmongering. Understand it. Question it. Be part of it.
