As we think about our scripture passage [John 14:1-11], Jesus is proclaiming “He is the only way” to God/Heaven/Eternal Life. Many consider this to be “politically incorrect”, “intolerant” and “narrow”. Think about it though, His way is wide enough to accommodate ANYONE who decides to take it!

Have you ever taken a moment to think about the fact that you have not only the ability to love, but also receive love? We often here the phrase “God is love!” which comes from a verse in [1 John 4:8]. We must remember the fact that we were created in God’s image. We love because He is love. Those who you hold dear and love are proof of God’s existence. Every relationship needs work and our relationship with God is no exception. As our world grows darker and more hostile towards God there has never been a more important time to make sure you (1) have a love relationship with God (2) you nurture that love relationship, and (3) that relationship affects those you come into contact with in a positive way. For if we do not have love, we do not have God. Fall in love with God again this morning.

Jesus not only calls everyone to enter into a relationship with Him, He calls us to live for Him. Jesus gives us a new purpose for living and a new power to carry it out. Unfortunately, the pull of temptation to do the bad things we used to do, present themselves in our weak moments. At that point we can chose to satisfy our old desires, or claim the promise of our new purpose. If you are feeling the pull to go back to your old ways, be encouraged by this message today.
